Preload Date?
Why does Xbox have preload and not PC or PS5?

How to preload Dragon’s Dogma 2
You can preload Dragon’s Dogma 2 right now on Xbox Series X/S. It has been posted in the game’s subreddit that preloads are now live on Xbox, but it is not available to download on either PlayStation or PC yet.

This is nothing out of the norm. Xbox always gets preloading way ahead of PC and PS5. PC and PS5 preloading typically goes up 24-48 hours prior to the games release.

Generally PC preloads are held close to release because of data mining.

Almost every PC game that is released will be data mined so people can get the spoilers posted before anyone else. It's pretty much a race to get the most traffic to their website.

It's much harder to data mine software on a console.

doesnt preloading just mean youve installed it ahead of time? so what that it doesnt have it?

Just FYI: depending on the speed of your connection, it might take longer to decrypt the preload data than to download the whole thing...

Why not read one of the other 1200 threads about this that already answered it?

That's not how decryption works. Your storage will be what affects that speed once it's already preloaded. It connects to the internet, gets a key, then starts going to work. Internet speed doesn't affect it after that... Only if they have to patch something will download affect this and if so it wouldn't be that big.

If decrypting 100GB of data takes you two hours and downloading 100GB of non-encypted data takes you 1 hour, I'd say you're better off not preloading at all, that's what I'm saying.

That actually happened to me more than once, too.

Neither, actually.
NVMe SSD and 500 Mbit/s, Remnant 2 took longer to decrypt than to download

I have the NVMe SSD in my profile but my internet only gives me 5MB/s on Steam downloading. I could not dream of downloading a game faster than my NVMe unpacks even if it were way faster like that so idk that's weird. Did Remnant 2 have a day 1 patch too?

I can't remember for sure, I think maybe a hotfix was released some time later.
