I have just confirmed for myself that the previous version runs way smoother, as it did before this update ruined the performance.
I followed a guide on installing the previous version of the game: https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/611h5e/guide_how_to_download_older_versions_of_a_game_on/
Use this command in Steam console to download the first files you need:
download_depot 2054970 2054971 9129194680899181035
then download:
download_depot 2054970 2054973 1668232727129288695
The downloads do not appear in your Steam downloads manager, but they are downloading in the background. Once the download is complete, the steam console will tell you where it put them.
Make a folder with all of the files from both of the downloads above, then go to the directory where Dragons Dogma 2 is installed and remove all files EXCEPT config.ini and shader.cache2
Now paste in the files from the folder you made before into the DD2 install directory where you just removed the files.
It should now play on the previous version.
Thanks for posting this. This works. Feels so much better. Tested on the latest Nvidia drivers 556.12.
