black screen?

after the new update, when i open i get a black screen, no logo, nothing.

It's probably one of those mod frameworks with DLLs like ReFramework, Scriptcore or Fluffy's Mod Manager having incorrect address offsets for the new update. That'll cause a crash as the game tries to load in those DLLs on launch.

Back up your saved game now (PCGamingWiki has the folder), just in case.

Then delete the DLLs related to those mod frameworks for now, and see if you can play.

You can decide to wait to play with mods, or if you want to play without.

I'd say wait on the mods. Likely most won't need updates after the framwork DLLs get fixed - but you never know.

XYZApi got updated already. Don't know if that'll let you run, but nice to see that mod authors are already starting to spin up on the update.

You can try that if you'd like GodSlayer - but naturally, I'd recommend everyone else not do that. About as funny as the old 'fix it with alt-f4' line.

Most likely, its the cause of any mods that use .pak files. As soon as I turn off the 2 mods I have that used those, the game runs fine in my case. Don't even need to uninstall, just turn them off in Fluffy Manager. Game runs fine with my other mods on that doesn't use .pak files.

Verify the game files. I had the same issue, this fixed it for me.

If you do this, make sure you remove the folder from DD2. Data from mods doesn’t get removed if you uninstall the game. So a simply uninstall and reinstall will not help if there rest data from your mods because they will just wait there for you and still cause the same problem as soon DD2 is installed again.

if you ever installed a mod that use fluffy/reframework, try to delete all re_chunk_00 patch file(except the 60gb one) and then try to verify the game folder/delete the crashreport.exe

I didn't update any of my mods and it runs fine.

i have not seen this much bad information in one thread since STALKER pre alpha. before anyone really knew how to fix a game. its hard to believe this is 2024
