It's honestly nothing more than a terrible decision on the devs part. Next time, hit her to start the fight and shoot her rear/main torso. Or just shoot her torso before she does leave if you can make the shot after getting all riddles.
I don't know why the Unmaker's Arrow that literally can destroy anything else including the great dragon is weaker than a Sphinx....Apparently the Sphinx is above the great cycle....stupid af and there's nothing else to it. Sorry you missed out this time around.
Its also important that you do NOT have any pawns with you and if you do keep your main pawn, that they are a mage with as many buffs and zero attack skills as possible because they can and will hit her face and fail the challenge.
i alt f4 but to late is saved and i wont play new game for this stone
if you use the unmaking arrow during the combat phase you "complete" the combat and she say "i'm gonna away".
so you should attack her with normal equipment until that moment or you need 2 unmaking arrows, 1 to finish the combat and 1 to kill her.
seems stupid, because the unmaking arrow should grants one shot kill everytime, but it's how it works.
never had that problem, didn't wait until hp bar showed up. i just shot her with an unmaking arrow as soon as she spread her wings specifically on her wing and she died and gave me the loots.
This poster is correct, except about the last paragraph. You can have pawns with you if you tell them to wait, they won't attack, even if they're standing right in the middle of the fight. But yes, the the sphinx fight itself is actually just another riddle, and the "solution" is to do enough damage to kill her by only breaking the animal parts. A few misses that hit human parts is fine as long as it's not a lot of damage, each part has a health pool of it's own and after a while it will "break" and doing further damage to it won't lower her health bar. You just have to do that to every animal part without doing it to any human part to win. Or you can just unmaking arrow any animal part to instantly "solve" the riddle. It's not exactly a waste considering this game has no particularly hard enemies and due to the save system it's better safe then sorry. I just do it the intended way and stockpile arrows for the offchance we get a BBI equivalent DLC in the future.
