What do we really know about the Jadeite Orb?
Is this just a quest to make sure you are aware of the forgery vendor?

I used the Marcher armor and spent 500 gold talking to the guy in the Vernworth Gaol, and all I got was that he'd ask about it at Ibrahim's Scrap Store.

I know you don't have to talk to the prisoner, because in my first playthrough I just bought the Orb, gave it to one and said "Sod off" to the other one to complete the quest.

I understand you can get a small amount of loot that is not unique and some xp for completing the quest, and I've even heard of people wasting a Sphinx gift on duplicating the Orb to give a real Orb to both guys.

Is there any reason to not just tell the two people seeking it that you haven't found it and move on with your Arisen life?

nope and the only reason to ask the sphinx to do it is if you're on ng++ and want to test it out. it doesn't change anything in this quest.

Not only there is no real significance to who gets the original (or both) there is no follow up to this quest at all. I thought "the bad guy" would have some other job down the line, maybe, since he is some kind of bigshot, allegedly. He didn't. It's just intro to forgeries and some mild moral dilemma.

Also, it is pretty hilarious that the orb is literally on the front display and they can't figure it out. That's how I found it.

Its hilarious that Ibrahim has it on his counter there while Everard just walks pass it everyday.
