Climbing enemies is pretty annoying
I feel like I can hardly control what direction I want to go.

I've been trying to chop the Medusa's head off for a while now, but struggle to actually get up there.

It's hard to tell if I'm high enough up on her body because she's constantly flailing about, so I'm just mashing attacks until she flings me off.

have you ever climbed something flailing about before? i think you'd have a tough time doing it too.

use stamina consumables

Thief vocation could be better at it, but still, the mechanism is to mimic what's in the real life ,while you climbing something moving, jumping, and sometimes even flying lol

A little tip for this in particular, to know if youre really hitting her head, purple blood will splatter when attacking her there.

Also, highly recommend getting the lightning daggers, i used these and it made cutting her head super easy.

Would also avoid upgrading the daggers out of fear of doing too much dmg and degrading the quality of the head.

I tend to stagger/stun monsters before trying to stun them (cyclopes and chimeras, I just get right up there).

I did notice that if pushing/pulling targets limbs when staggered, you get a "crit" sound/rumble to let you know it is a significant action. When an ogre is staggered and has it's hand down on the ground while sitting on it's butt, if you grab that hand and push/pull it out, it will slip backwards.

Also golem legs can be push/pulled and then will fall over and the head will pop off, but that one is more inconsistent for me.

For medusa's head, I have found good success by staggering her with well timed stuns or I even heard someone say they used sleep arrows, and when she is laying on the ground you can slash the head for an insta-kill/head cut off (I think it needs to be slashing damage).

Climbing direction seems character oriented rather than camera oriented, which can make navigating to the part of the monster you want, kind of annoying, especially when it's flailing around wildly.

Yeah the climbing drains too much stamina now and enemies throw you off a lot faster, and there are no easy cheap stamina restoratives that I know of so climbing, the signature move from the first game is now pointless. Just DD2 things.

even with stamina drain rings, dragoforged stamina reduction and the augment? i dont think so.

I kind of agree. I've been using a controller because it feels more comfortable for this, but other than some nintendo games like animal crossing or pikmin I'm really not good with using a controller.

I find it hard to get my character to go the direction I intend sometimes, like if I push up the intention is for him to climb towards the head of the creature, but sometimes with the things movement it'll have me crawling towards the feet while I hold up. I've kind of just given up on climbing unless I "have" to for some stuff, and even then I just suffer through it.

I've been using the ring that I got from the Sphinx quest.
I'm not sure if that's making it so that the damage I'm doing to her "head" is being negated as well as the damage to her health bar though.

It's much more consistent and easier to control here than it was in DD1. If the direction your character is climbing starts getting wonky, release the left stick it and will reset orientation. Meaning that up will be up, down will be down etc.

Now now, let's not get dramatic.

Usually I just jump and latch on, then jump again and latch on "skipping" some of the slow climbing. You can even use the momentum of the flailing to your advantage. Like say an Ogre or whatever flailing about, and so you latch on to the arm and then you let go at the right moment and suddenly you're sitting on top of it's head.

Anyway, about the Medusa. I'm warfarer so I used the Magick Archer sleep arrow. When asleep i switched to some daggers and gently jumped and latched to her face. then I used Draw and Quarter and off it went (pristine condition).

You need to up your level of dexterity in your hands. One things for sure, its easier than the first game.
