can we talk DLC
I know its tempting to discuss cosmetics and cheap gimmicks. but I'm hoping there are those that would discuss game lore and what could be done with the game to further improve the game story and or expand upon it. personally I would love to see the game expand on the thieves guild, I would love to see the game explore maybe a whole new ancient city located under the ocean which could explore things like what is the red tentacle miasma and is it just the tip of a much more colossal creature or maybe that it's one of many.

What the game needs is a good end game area like BBI from the first game, and i honestly preferred the everfall post game of the first game, more than the post game of DD2.

There are some interesting sealed doors that through clipping, showed that they should be openable by the godsbane blade. Behind every caved in passage in a cave has one of those doors actually.

The question is cut content or future content.
what do you mean by BBI?

Bitterblack Isle, the post game area that was added as DLC in DD1, and eventually pre-packed into the game with the Dark Arisen re-release.
Every aspect of the game could be improved. Story, difficulty etc.

But everyone was saying that the rubbled-in doorways and entrances you come across are meant for DLC. At this point I don't think anything will come of it because it's been too long.

I do not know. When monster hunter was announced i knew that DD2 would get put on the back burner as they focused on MH, but with it now out for a bit, they can start to hype up other projects, like perhaps a DD2 expansion.

BTW, when the first game got the dark arisen expansion, it also effected the base games end game as well, by adding BBI enemies to the post game map.

The game is not dead as it is still getting updates and even a few qol changes, DDDA was my favorite fantasy game of all time and i really want DD2 to be the sequel i dreamed of.
I think there is a lot that could be done with the game with as it stands now. nothing else there could be a massive injection of better written quests instead of GO HERE AND KILL 10 THINGS, COLLECT 30 THINGS. I personally like little discoveries such as a necromancer that is capturing adventurers and pawns through the prospects of treasures in a cave or fort which instigates a rescue mission via stealth rescue or otherwise. bounty hunting missions ie bringing escaped prisoners back to the "gaol"

That would validate the infrastructure they built into the game for sure. And allow new gameplay mechanics (instead of killing them a short window of capture appears once the outlaws/wanteds health is low).

Yeah, the game has much potential, the only question is if Capcom and their shareholders are ready to invest more money in it.

Although, I must admit I would like these stupid grind quests because I really like the combat system in this game. I would also really appreciate if they would go back and add an option to friendzone Ulrika & Wilhelmina. I like to finish quests but I don’t like it if a game does romance things without my consent, especially if mature content is hinted and we can create our own character.

For lore based stuff,
If we got DLC one of the questlines I hope gets an addition would be the Spellbound/The Sorcerer's Appraisal. Or just more about that family in general. There is so much we can guess/investigate on our own, but I'd love to see the impact we had on them. I think there's so much that we could learn/participate in with any of them.

I'd also like a follow-up on the Wilhelmina questline, even if it's just a little tidbit like If you visit the house in the post-game trailer where she's camping at night you can still talk to her/interact with her, since we can visit that spot any time normally

This is also just a side thing, and I know it's probably just supposed to be in-game lore to show you mechanics, but I'd have loved some follow-up about the missing girl mentioned on the poster on one of the houses in the Vernworth fields. My stupid fan theory is that it wasn't an ogre like that one sign said, but something more malicious. Since there is a beastren that "lives" inside that house and the slums are right next door where there is a sign about not serving beastren (I know could just be more lore stuff), but if you travel up towards some of the more run-down/secluded houses you can find one where there are a bunch of rats and a single piece of rotten meat. Sure it could've been just another rat or something, but I've always thought that maybe it was the missing girl.

I absolutely loved that we could see Harve get built up over time if we helped them, and I'd like if some of the other places could get that treatment, like Melve or that little town outside Vernworth that I think was where the people of Harve used to live before they went to Harve (since you can find the three people like Jonas, sitting by the bridge talking about it until they actually go to Harve). Perhaps it could be a temporary location for the elves until their tree grows or something.

I also think it'd be neat if we had some sort of follow-up/different route for the Coral Snakes. For how much the game wanted Hugo to be a big deal, it felt really random to me all things considered. I think it'd have made more sense if he'd solidified his position as an 'Important Character' by making a greater impact upon the world, like most of the other cutscene characters did. Hugo's caring side and devotion to protecting children was shown over and over, but we got nothing from it. Like, even the jobs he can take has nothing to do with it. I think a follow-up where he either re-joins/re-organizes the Coral Snakes into something better for society would've been a nicer touch. Like he becomes a teacher or tradesman for the Coral Snakes, or he helps the Snakes get proper jobs as traveling bodyguards for the Oxcarts (could even swap the NPCs walking near Oxcarts with Coral Snake members if quest completes in that way). He just doesn't seem impactful enough to warrant the credit he was given.

I'd also love if we saw some development for Humphrey.
Hell, I think I'm realizing that any of the 'bigger' questlines I'd love just more to expand on it. Like, if the DLC simply was the 'next' generation of fighters and scholars and how this new world will be shaped by them. Have the people that we helped develop, like Hugo, Humphrey, Trysha, Doireann, and Sara (and I'm sure there's plenty others) and show how they have grown since coming into their skills and abilities. Could even show mentorships where they're trained/taught like Whilemina>Hugo, Beren>Humphrey, Myrddin>Trysha, Ulrika>Doireann, Glyndwr>Taliesin, Brant>Sven, Brokkr>Sara (etc etc)
Could even have a minor timeskip to give them time to develop/age to be the next generation of 'heroes' of our journey.

TLDR: Expand on the questlines where we set the NPCs up to be successful with their new skills/abilities.

Also +! to this,

in the same way skyrim has hundreds of mods. capcom would have made much more in game sales if they released mod support so players could create their own experiences and share them. why their isn't much mod support options to expand on the quest system is a bit odd. it would make far more sense for them to allow the players to create content than to sustain such an isolated team where the dream just dies based on investment support and speculated gains.
I do not think that any dlc should expand base game questlines, as those should be updates free.

Nobody likes paying for the ending of a already full priced game.

I gotta disagree. If it feels like the quests are adding things/are done poorly and it's obvious they're covering for cut content, then sure I'd agree. Like if they were like "Oh and now that you did Whilemina's quest here is an additional part of her quest that we cut when we had her fade to black and we never talked about her again", like yeah that'd feel bad.

But if it's something like: After the ending, for whatever reason they come up with, the arisen is set to go explore a new area and depending on which quests you've completed prior to the ending would have those characters play a relevant part/reveal more about their characters/can be involved in your exploration journey. It'd give a reason for the characters we've already worked with, grown attached to, and learned about to continue to have a relevant place in the story instead of "Oh it's DLC so here's a bunch of new people you'll have to get to know in a short window that will probably feel shallow. What are the rest of your pals doing? Oh, just sitting around T-posing until you come into view again."
Stuff like that would give the choices the players make actual meaning, cause right now a lot of them don't have any real impact upon the world.

I personally don't like it when a game gives an expansion/DLC and is so focused on the "new an shiny" that they ignore all the previous content for no real reason.
What some games have done, and i would like to see for this game, is a big 2.0 update of sorts, that adds a bunch to the base game for free and has the new paid expansion area in the same update.

As much as i liked BBI, it did give little reason to explore the main map in DDDA.

OH OH OH. Yes, this is what I had in mind as well. I wouldn't want stuff, like my example of meeting Whilemina post quest, to be in a paid DLC, but as the update part when the actual DLC drops kinda thing. Totally agree.
i mean, yeah, im not really interested in getting something for nothing. I would be willing to pay for a legitimate substantial expansion or at least the comparative value for publicly well appraised content. the trouble is, one mans trash is another mans treasure. perception on value varies. this is more why Im leaning to things like mod support, rather well thought out mod support expansions that allow the players to design the game that best suits their wants. having said that. if they took a section of map of an area already been explored and completed only to try to resell it after giving it a face lift with a mere few extra missions to elude to it being considered an expansion I wouldn't be so positively receptive and would protest that with my wallet. its a bit of knowing the customer in that regard. is it worth while to figure out what the largest majority is willing to pay for? sure, why not. but I think adding tools like quest designer kits, player/ npc attack animations and enemy npc attack animation and item modifiers do come to mind that would get a lot of people on board that would otherwise not be customers all together.
