Buggy Quest and Tired of Walking Everywhere!
There are far too many quest that are buggy as H***. The quest are constantly leaving out critical information in description (like you need to be an archer to do this quest as main character). That quest was critical for travel , why would you not make that 1st one generic mission. And the Nun, Kid with wolves, etc. So many quest can't finish because some key trigger did not happen and can't go back to an old save because there are none and you can't load them anyway! Who they h*** makes a game like this where you can never load saves (except default last). This game would be fun if just fixed all the issues! I am already out of missions because half I have are bugged or can't seem to be completed .... and no new ones are triggering - no sense of chronological purpose in this game.

It is getting very old walking everywhere (running).... sure you can warp back to 2 ports if lucky enough to stumble onto the other one, but only 2 fixed, are you kidding me! And getting those portable placement crystal are very difficult to find if now using a cheat map to tell you exactly where they are. I am sure late game I will finally get a mission to get one, but most the game is over by then what is the point. You should be getting at least 2 of those by early mid game. I am like 3/5 done and still have not even one of those! I am constantly opening things, finding and searching for chest... but still have not found one. They are rare I get it, but have early mission, that is not bugged, as reward!

That crazy door that would never open in basement at nuns location even though tried 10x at night and opened it once before mission even started as exploring - other say a bug also. And the kid got lost somewhere on way back to camp .... the mission says he is safe from wolves just have to tell grandfather - but never triggers the communication on topic, tried like 5x.... so many issues that could be easily fixed. I am using the Ox carts more and forcing to sleep on way.... just not fun running everywhere all the time! 10% Fun 90% Run Sim!! see why almost 50% on sale already - just fix the game please.

For traversal speed I just create a hotkey to speed up the game 3x in Cheat Engine and a hotkey to go back to normal speed. I have an MMO mouse so I just assign to one of the many buttons. {mousewheel up = normal speed, mousewheel down = half speed, Mouse button 5 = 3x speed} this setup is the go-to across many of my games so it's muscle memory.

There's probably a mod that does similar but I don't have a need as the way I do it is fine. I have many mods installed (infinite ferrystone etc.) Gives the game a brand new life.

That is crazy work around - I do have membership to Cheathappen trainers - which are legit, you pay yearly membership and they are scanned , etc. However, when I use any cheat engine it will crash, so can't use it , and by the way the first game I ever had issue with. I use the cheat engine for exactly what you just said to speed up games where excessive boring parts, and when constantly farming to get money or mana in some games - they are a life saver! Games I would not buy , I now play with trainer ...... however, you have to be careful not to abuse the training or games become too easy and boring. For example I used cheat on boss fights in Elden Ring (have no patience for that grindy , die 15x before win BS), then turn right back off. I still died plenty of times and lost my stuff , but that was fine .... In this game would use for speed travel and to get copy of a receiving jump point ..... put in say 6 places on map , then turn off all cheat engine for good. To me I use the cheat engine to offset obvious bad designs in the game, not to erase challenge.... just wish worked on this game.

Why do I love this game? Because it doesn't lead me under the arms like a toddler. The game throws me into a raging river and says, “Swim (play). If you can't, you'll drown (fail all quests)”. It's a challenge. For my tastes, it's a pretty darn addictive challenge. When you have to pay attention to everything. For example, the quest where you have to be an archer, I went to do it, and the pawn, as if unintentionally, said to me, “Master, being a mage you can not shoot a bow”. I got it. It was awesome!!! There are a lot of quests here where you really have to COUNTER. I'll admit, I googled how to do a quest a couple times when I was going through because I couldn't figure out what everyone wanted me to do, but I did the vast majority of the quests myself, and I'm proud of it. I had to go through the game 4 times to do it.

Unless they released a patch recently (haven't been playing) it's been working from me since release and Denuvo shouldn't interfere.

Make sure you're selecting the right exe in cheat engine. It might be some windows setting, bitdefender stopping cheat engine I dunno.

Do you ever wonder why Skyrim has markers and generally more intuitive quests? Because it wasn't automatically assumed gamers would Google everything. Games are designed now assuming you will have Google on your phone basically playing the game for you. That's why there will often be things you would never otherwise discover, like invisible doors without any outline or other subtle hints it exists. If you don't use Google as you play you will certainly break quests.

So, you never heard of Prima Strategy Guides, I see.
You know, those literal books that were sold to help with finding/completing quests, building characters, mission strategy, and whatnot for games pre-Google? Never mind that even those guides often missed things, like that FF9 quest that was found only some 5 years ago.

Basically, old games expected players to figure things out on their own, and both DD games are much the same. It's a shame that ability is considered out of reach of some people.

A shame indeed. People are spending more time on the peripheral than the game itself, YouTube videos are everywhere. Nobody wants to have to actually think. They watch a video then do what it says. Open worlds are becoming increasingly corridor-like because God forbid you should have to decide where to go. given the trend towards story playing center stage it appears gamers would rather just be part of an interactive movie where they can just pick a dialog and be be rewarded with a cutscene like Boring Gate 3.

So, DD2 is good, then? Make up your mind.
On a side note, linear story based RPGs have been around since the 80's. Some even had what would have passed for cutscenes, given the technology at the time. This argument of yours is falling apart as fast as you make it.

Much of what you say i have to agree with ! .. BUT ,, games can be TOO EASY ,, ESO gets called all the time for being too easy ! and the problem is that most people really want a game that is hard at first and then gets easier as you level up ! .. And lets be honest ,, What is the point of trying to level up if it makes no difference .. In this game You MUST level up to be able to beat even the low level bosses ! .. Vs ESO where at very low level you can certainly beat almost any boss in the game ! In fact in ESO the only chance you have to solo beat some bosses is to use a low level character !!! No this game makes you explore, level up and take your time ,,, That is rare today , but great ... There are numerous bugs that should be fixed in the game .. But what seems to of worked for me is to start the game ... play for an hour or two , quit , validate the files and then start a new character ! .. This means you learn the mechanics < not great or intuitive in this game > .. and it does seem to fix a lot of bugs too ??? ..... That method has helped me on a few games now ! Not sure why ? but it does seem to work !

I never said DD2 wasn't a good game. I was talking about games in general. Yes there were linear games in the 80's. Technology enabled open world but many don't like the freedom it allows. I'm not arguing anything. Just stating facts. You want to tell me that BG3, DD2, ER are more open world than Skyrim? Or that BG3 is much more story-centric than it's predecessors? I don't remember clicking through dialogues and cutscenes in BG2.

The rest of us have jobs, family and other things to do vs. play a game 4x to learn how to play it right - glad you have so much free time, but just not realistic for the rest of us!!

I have put in 60 hrs so far, and have to say, just skip all the side missions, have not done one yet that is worth the effort in what I get when over ..... some of these side quest will have you using up all your jump stones and waste incredible amount of time with long list of task, and just end with little money that does not even begin to compensate.... just got another ring can't use since can only use 2 anyway..... better if I was getting real cool weapons or very special spell, something of significance! Like the one with Nun, all that work, even more so with bug of door never opening, and then finally grab her and get almost nothing.... what a huge waste of like 2 nights trying to get that quest done. So many others are just like it, it is junk filler to make the game seem longer - it is just fluff to fill an empty game with content. I have killed every monster in the game so far, even the higher end griffin, now what? I guess just the final dragon..... I am bored of fighting same enemies over and over again.... need more creativity here.... I think the golem with color points is one of the hardest to kill unless special magic archer. The PC controls for that class was so unusable that had to switch back to Mage. Too many poor designs in this game, so glad bought on sale!! For $30 it is worth playing, think of it as a AA vs AAA game, makes easier to enjoy lol.

Yes I did 2x, one ran away in quest the 2nd I beat with my team .... 2x mage, 1 Archer, and main Pawn Thief to keep busy .....while hit with endless attacks from outside. I tried playing magic archer, but PC controls are so strange with that one.... so went back to mage, hence had 2 mages at once vs. the Warrior I had before. Yes that was the best enemy in the game as original! I played to end , good ending ..... never saw the Medusa though in the game play except in that cut scene temp fight.... was hoping to run into her when saw some of the stone people, but never could find her. I was going to play the game some more, but not sure exactly the point now, the side missions just are not that good, lot of run here then there with minimal rewards. They need a better story or theme to run it all together....

Even much of the main story and missions (main) early on did not really fit all together into a good transition to what was the true ending.... they could have done a much better job in story .... just could never get into the game story... .just did not flow for me at all. I hear there will be a DLC, lets hope they can make that better. I already played archer, mage, magic archer, could play the 2 sided blade fighter (forgot name) .... but why. Also wish the magic was more extensive.... struck with my fire, cold, lightning (which is cool looking) .... but gets old after some time. Would not mind have a couple other ones, like earth, water, necro, wind tornado (oh yes, I know exist but could never get it before game was over). That is another issue with game, it was over before I finally got enough portable crystals and access to other fields of study near end - little value by then.... need to get the portable crystals much earlier in game and not have to be archer for the one quest that gives to you. The game needs more replay-ability to it .... please better side missions vs. running errands all the time just to obviously give illusion of more content to game. And please fix all the bugs on quest that lock you out , especially when have only 1 save. I give the game a 7 out of 10, buy on sale. What a shame , thought would be another BG3 AAA outstanding game, but not even close (but most the AAA games this year have let people down - recall skyrim in space we all looked forward to , what a joke that was). We need another good Witcher , Skyrim of the same depth but modern. And the new Dragon Age is like some kind of Disney Kids show meets Dragon Age.... it is pathetic! Another AAA game that because too political correct, with fake looking characters and no real conflict or sense of choice..... I might buy it when goes on sale for $20. EOY and I have no AAA games to play for Christmas, time to dig out the old ones I guess..... sad year in gaming..

Why does everyone use the same CIRI avatar? It's highly annoying cos I like to go by the pic as identification. Almost everyone using the same avatar is so unimaginative and weak.
