Has performance improved?
4060ti 9600k 16gb ram installed on an SSD, played a short while at release but stutters and less than 40fps put me off. Is it worth coming back to now?

At release, it was a mess for many. Each update has improved performance. Most players have a good to acceptable frame rate, now.

Make sure you've downloaded all the updates and give it a spin.

It's become one of my favorite games. Only games that have come close for me personally were Witcher and Mass Effect series. I enjoy DD2 more than DDDA, as I found BBI too much like senseless grinding (a minority opinion).

Hope you enjoy DD2. If you want a high level pawn (~250) to help you with quests or as a pack horse, give me a Friend request. My Main Pawn has been through 11 playthroughs and pretty much knows where the bodies are buried.

Will your pawn essentially 1 shot everything though? making my play-through a little too easy?

Probably. Beginning can be a bit tough and soon you will feel over-powered.

If she wrecks your play because she seems OP, just send her home.

The game REALLY likes VRAM. I recently "upgraded" from a 3070ti to a 4070 and the extra VRAM was a noticeable improvement to gameplay performance. Absolutely no stuttering frames in the city and had 60fps everywhere. The 3070ti chugged for me in vernworth city and high physics areas like tumbling rocks and ice spells.

Wouldn't it be more cost effective to upgrade to a 4080 at least? 3070ti is not a cheap card to toss aside and how much can you get for a last generation mid-range card?

The game for me is running quite well, with DLSS on Quality and Frame generation on and all ultra in the wilds i have 100-120fps in the city around 70-80fps. However im experiencing quite frequent crashes at random times. Any known issues?

You can get 60fps in Vernworth with a 12600k? I have a 11700F and frequently drop to mid 40s in Vernworth. Viewing the usage stats my CPU is at 100% in Vernworth when my performance drops and then standing outside Vernworth gates looking at the farm fields my GPU jumps to 100% (CPU drops to like 60% or so) and again my fps tank.

I am using a 7800XT btw without RT enabled.

People saying that the performance has gotten better are delusional, it HASN'T and will NEVER receive a performance patch. This game is now abandoned and runs exactly how it did on release day, horribly.
still has massive improvements to be made on this subject honestly.
but it looks like this game is dead and abandoned, a shame cuz it really is a good game that got overshadowed by performance issues since release.

All the evidence points to you not owning the game on Steam, so why should I value your comment over all the comments claiming that the performance has improved?

Because you can literally read all the patch notes from every patch released and none of them mention performance fixes..?

Further fixes to issues around CPU overload in certain situations.*

Guess what that might be, troll?

・Fixing issues around CPU overload in certain situations.*
・Miscellaneous bug fixes.

*Frame rates in areas with a lot of NPCs, such as town centers, should be improved.
Players on Steam can achieve these results from changing their graphics settings.
