Best fighter pawn skills after fighter buff?
So there was a patch a while ago that buff fighter, what's your opinion on the skills to choose for a fighter AFTER the patch?

Particularly, I'm wondering if I should replace some of the skills with Riotous Fury (aka Meister skill) and blink strike (hoping to avoid pawn holding up the shield instead of charging in randomly)

Current setup:
  • Hindsight Sweep
  • Shield Pummel
  • Cloudward Slash
  • Full Moon Slash

Edit: also wondering if switching to a mace would be a better option, especially considered the best sword in the game has better stats than the best mace.

Replace shield pummel with riotous and give the pawn a mace is what I would do with a vanilla fighter pawn. Shield pummel was only a for-fun ability and an option to use when facing rattlers/armored cyclops for me, but just equipping a mace deals with those problems. Plus riotous is a solid ultimate attack, good damage and stagger, ofc paired best with a mage and celestial paen.

Flawless Guard is amazing for the player, I typically will use that, you could test it on the pawn and replace full moon slash, since both do aoe but Flawless Guard breaks staggers and can be used anytime, plus the pawn is protected while doing this. (I would often use this to deal with slime groups, just get shield enchant and spin, I wonder if the fighter pawn would do this.)

Never thought of using a mace, since stats wise, they are worse than swords. Let me give it a try.

Which mace do you suggests in the end game? Molten Fury seems best over stats-wise, but it is fire and some enemies like dragon-like are resistant to it. Threaded Cudgel has the highest knockdown, but the damage is considerably less than Dragon's dogma

I generally give my pawn riotous, shield pummel, hindsight sweep and cloudward slash when she's a fighter. Of all the abilities, I found those worked best and gave her the widest range of options to deal with stuff. Plus ofc (assuming I want her to tank) provocation and aggro rings more than cover holding aggro.

I didn't find she used stuff like burst strike that well and full moon while doable is a shadow of what it was. Gutting skewer is awesome on an arisen but I noticed that she often wouldn't skewer the weak spot.

Other stuff is just bad. Shield drum and launch board are a trap and I don't think I ever used flawless guard on her - I just don't think pawn AI is good enough to trigger abilities like that at the right time and if they get it wrong they're standing there doing nothing.

That all said, while fighter (esp dual fighter) is really fun, I eventually switched her to thief when I wanted her in melee. Even if I wanted a tank. A thief with implicate, helmsplitter, plunder and prob formless feint does more damage whilst being more survivable than either a warrior or a fighter and (with aug's and rings) holds aggro just as well. Plus they get you free ♥♥♥♥. edit - Plus they eat damn harpies for breakfast.
