Who needed a casual mode ?
The game was already plsz easy to begin with, if anything we needed a normal and a hard mode, as well as level scaling.

I was thinking the same thing when I read the patch notes. I legit am wondering where the developers' mindset is with this game. I'm nowhere near some ultra pro gamer by any means, but I genuinely think I could beat a large portion of this game's boss fights blindfolded. This game was already mind numbingly easy to the point that I play the game with only me and my main pawn so that there's at least a very mild challenge.

I’m playing on casual and my pawns and I are still casually dying lol. So I’m glad they added it right when I got the game

Does it even affect damage tho? It seemed like it mostly just reduced mechanics that some people didn't care for like dragons plague or making ferrystones less expensive and things of that sort, don't remember reading about it affecting actual difficulty at all but could be wrong.

This

Its essentially a 'quality of life' improving mode but has nothing to do with actual combat difficulty

i recently saw there's some mods for difficulty, can't remeber the names, should find it with a simple google search though! until they give us harder dif in game, maybe the mods can help a lot!

I often wonder this but then you realise there are an enormous number of extremely casual people out there and they make up a large quantity of potential sales for games. You just rarely if ever see them on forums. Just to give you one eg, I played quite a bit of ESOL a while back. Mainly for pvp - didn't do the trial stuff. Reading the forums, running round cyrodil, looking at the parses people posted, it always felt like people were way ahead of you. But then you'd run round the zones and realise that most of the player base didn't understand basic game mechanics like how sets worked, bar swapping, rotations... I mean, *at all.* Hell, half the playerbase just did housing in that game.

Level scaling is dangerous though, we all remember Oblivion right? Running around fighting bandits with daedra armor is not fun, you will get damage sponge goblins instead, better they add something like the post game DD1, where the skies darkened and new enemies showed up, even if only reskins of wolves those hell hounds were better than level 45 wolves.

One popular theory is that they added "Easy Mode" because they're planning on adding a difficult DLC area (akin to Bitterblack Isle in the first game), and they needed to implement easier difficulties beforehand to avoid alienating casual players.

bro... i just started the game on normal, and i didn't even get to the end of the tutorials, because the monsters were already dead before i could understand the controls! HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA!

the medusa fight was so ridiculously easy and the goblins too! i didn't even know what happened when the fight ended!

the first game, i died at the tutorial hydra (i believe it was a hydra as far as i remember, it was a long time ago) for at least 10 times!

this game doesn't just need hard mode, it needs EXTRA HARD mode!!!!!!!!
