Dragonsplague: Pointless mechanic and a blight on the game
I see 2 problems with Dragonsplague. It's a completely useless mechanic that contributes absolutely nothing to the game other than to be annoying. The other problem is we have countless dragon aids afflicted pawns whose Arisens no longer play, so they will never be cured, and will constantly be spreading it. Capcom needs to remedy this. Hired pawns, from what I know, are not cured when resting at campsites or inns after the nerf. My last 4 parties have had hired pawns that showed NO signs of having dragon aids, but out of the blue and without even having fought a drake, they start showing signs. THEN my pawn starts showing signs after I've rested numerous times at an inn. There needs to be a way to fix these pawns who won't ever be cured by their own Arisen. I'm spending way too much time focusing on signs, yeeting pawns to the brine, and trying to find pawns that don't have it(even though the end up having it anyway). I've barely made ANY progress in Battahl solely because of THIS busted mechanic that should never have even been put in the game to begin with.

I LOVE this game. I LOVED the first game. This is just ridiculous.

Don't worry, I tried for hours and STILL couldn't nuke town to experience the thing everyone is afraid of. Sickness just heals itself. So don't worry and just play the game, you will literally never get to the last stage even intentionally.
The whole dragonsplague thing does appear somewhat badly utilised. either it does nothing (as in my case) or it messes everything up and is uncurable.

Just seems badly implemented. They don't need to remove it, they just need to make it work in an immersive and interesting way even if it makes a pawn unusuable for a while (which can be done in an interesting way) so it can be cured with somework from the Player.

1. So the Pawn gets dragons plague. and gets more sick, the Player makes a potion and applies it to the pawn. It gets better.

2. Or maybe the player is too slow, the Pawn goes crazy starts attacking people. The Player has to wrestle the pawn to the ground then puts it in bed as it lies in a fever. He applies a healing potion and sits with the pawn overnight until the morning, She's better! Could be good for the main pawn.

3. Or maybe he just throws the pawn into the water or kills it, banishing it, so some other Arisen somewhere else cures it.

Just a bit of work from the Devs could have made this an engaging mechanic.

I actually got to the last stage in Melve last week and it was the first time I had encountered Dragonsplague. I wasn't aware of the signs and then all of Melve died, as well as some from Battahl, Vernworth, and other places. Then the next day they patched the calamity killing NPCs in other regions.

Consider yourself lucky, I literally spended 8 hours in total searching for plague and resting in Vermund. One time I was close, but it healed itself, another my pawn got eyes and when I sended other pawns away - plague went away with them.

I agree that they really could've made this a more engaging mechanic. You can cure your own pawn, but not hired pawns. We need all around cure functionality. My idea was they could make a purchasable cure that can be bought with RC. I really like your idea on actually making a cure.

I don't because it's turned into a heavy annoyance. Ever since I got hit by the calamity, I've been encountering afflicted left and right. It's been problematic. Sure, the plague might progress slower now, but it doesn't change the fact that there are countless pawns with the plague that will never be cured. For people like me who don't want to risk it because it'll cost a very expensive eternal wakestone, this makes it hard for me to actually enjoy gameplay because I have to divert more of my time into trying to circumvent the issue rather than risking it and just playing.

It can be healed by dropping your pawn into brine. So before each rest just brine your pawn and you will literally never get calamity ever.
Dragonsplague could be a cool feature as a hard boss fight but then ... yeah, we only get this cut scene and the boom. It would be nice too if there were a cure which we could craft. I don’t like to brine pawns and avoid it. If a pawn is sick, you get so many Dragonsplague lines, at least that was the case for me. If you only travel on foot, this gets annoying because they kill the whole pawn chatter.

We now have the casual mode which makes the whole Dragonsplague unnecessary. Of course this is no option for people which want to farm all achievement because you get locked out from 2.

Heard it's real hard to get early-mid game. Heck I saw people bored and wanted to find ways to get infected pawns to experience it lol.

They wasted budget on a mechanic they nerfed into the ground so it's hard to get and it didn't make the game more fun or interesting in the first place anyway.

I'm the same I don't like brining or killing pawns. I never have.

I was one of those people wondering, "Where is this plague I heard so many people fret about??"
I only ever saw my pawns eyes go red, then she got better. A storm in a teacup.
just go camp, only your main pawn can unleash dragon plague so just kill it before it happen. never had any problem with it i play 700 hours+.
It's part of the main story so stop QQing and deal with it, they already nerfed it to the ground due to crybabies like you.
Yup never expereinced it and it's something that I would like to see.
Glad I never had to deal with it, which is lucky as my playthrough topped 300 hours.
this always felt to me like an easter-egg that the community has to solve together!
