This is an important lesson, to stop preordering and hyping games from big corpo who treat customers like gargabe. This is probably the biggest flop capcom had in recent years but still superior to bethesda disaster called starfield.
honestly, I am not sure DD2 was a flop. or even Starfield. Both sold tons of copies.
keep in mind that both companies (capcom and bethesda) over hyped their games, and spread false information and lies via shills and "content creators" (Capcom flew some youtubers to Japan to play DD2 so they can write good reviews and lie on their behalf to their followers about how great the game is, keeping all the technical issues hidden). gamers are like drug addicts, so they couldn't help themselves and pre-ordered the game, most likely even the delux versions of whatever.
As much as I hated Starfield for being a complete and utter trash, at least Bethesda somewhat admitted that they missed the mark, and committed to a continued support which is seen in recent patches and the upcoming DLC. I can't say the same about CAPCOM. it feels like CAPCOM took out money and ran.
Everything else comes down to taste and yours is ♥♥♥♥
>he really thinks people will believe him at this point
Of course, it's beyond embarrassing when someone thinks they're ‘old’ (45? lol), then uses that as an argument (pretty immature if you ask me, and which only proves that age is no guarantee of maturity), only to be proven wrong the next moment and suddenly have to look up to the baby you just assumed they were. It's always funny - really clownish.
"respect your elders, even if they act like grumpy old men" , is what I was thought.
you're biological age might be double my age, but god, your mental age is of a teenager.
anyhow, capcom did over-hype the game. they kept dripping and teasing us with content every week. they released interviews with Itsuno and the other dude about all the unique stuff in the game and kept talking about how "BIG" the map is. two weeks before the release some content creators posted their reviews from a trip to Japan where they got the chance to play DD2. It worked because they sold over 3 million copies
and regarding my taste, if you took a moment to read my review you would see that DD2 was one of the best RPGs I've ever played. In fact, it is the ONLY game in history where I put over 200 hours.
third point is "reading comprehension". I said "it feels like" they took our money and ran. I am well aware that they are working on it as we speak because SteamDB is constantly being update. The reason I said that is because they kept a radio silence over 2 months now. zero communication, nothing. Take Bethesda for example, Starfield was a complete disaster, but they kept the comm open. Capcom didn't and still isn't saying anything. Even something along the lines of "we are currently working on DD2, when we have something to announce we will" but they say nothing.
peace.
It's all relative. 200 hours is a lot, you think? I invested over 13,000 hours in my last passion, and that was over a period of 8 years. From my perspective, 200 hours sounds more like a flash in the pan.
Just because you and all the rabble here want to see clear signs of doom doesn't mean it has to be true. Capcom could just as easily have learnt from its own mistakes and those of other companies and tried to keep the hype under control. There are few things more devastating (at least in the long run) than an avalanche of hype gone completely out of control that no product, no matter how good, can satisfy.
And vague hints are exactly the stuff dreams are made of. In the end, it may turn out that Capcom A) has either come to its senses or B) isn't quite as greedy as the angry mob here would have you believe.
Of course, I can't know for sure, I'd have to be a clairvoyant to know.
Definitely agree with you on Starfield.

are you serious lol? 13,000 hours ? was it an RPG single player game? how in hell can anyone spend that much time on a single player. I feel like I explored every nook and cranny in DD2, got every single gear, completed all quests including all outcomes of every quests, upgraded all gears etc etc. like there is nothing else for me to squeeze out of DD2. How can anyone possibly put more hours into that is crazy.
