Bottom line though, Capcom made good money off DD2; they ended up revising their earnings forecast and paid shareholders a bumper dividend back in sept. My guess is they'll come back for a second bite of the cherry. I mean, they're a corporation, their job's to make their shareholders profit and DLCs are - compared to original games anyway - pretty cheap to produce and you don't need to spend much on marketing. Seems a no brainer to me.
The real question is whether it'll be any good. God knows on that one. I'd guess it'll depend on whether they're going for a quick buck or trying to build the franchise. Personally, I rarely buy the things. Most expansions I've come across offer you maybe 20% more content for the price you paid for the original game. And by the time they issue, I've long moved on. Don't get me wrong, I think DD2's a fantastic game, I've gotten over 300 hours out of it. But I don't think I'm still going to be playing it in 2026 and Id rather buy a whole new game.
TLDR - I'd stop worrying about it, enjoy the game as it is and then move on to something else when you're ready.
TLDR = Rumors so far about DLC, boss-rush mode and co-op. Would be nice if it happened, but slim chances. December has been mentioned. We will have to wait and see (thankfully for a short while).
If it does come out - they probably cut out the major part of the game and sold it as DLC... Would explain how they made it so fast and why Itsuno left.
Even if they add new monsters, classes and areas.... The exploration and looting in this game is appalling ( most stuff found in chests are either money, ingredients or potions... occasionally we will find a "cape" that doesn't do anything except visual flavour... Really don't like what they did to armour and clothing system of the first game ).
We need something to come back to after the campaign... Everfall, U-Dragon or something akin to Bitterblack Dungeons. Even then the base game will still be underwhelming.
Do you people want really the same as Bethesda was doing with the next TES? I think the video was... 2018. We now have 2024.
Can you point where? I didn’t see that Capcom confirmed anything in this. I mean we all go out that something will come but I don’t think there was an official announcement. Please don’t post any speculation website because this is still a speculation.
At this point I'd take just a proper Hard Mode, with some aggressive AI tweaking along with the DDDA changes, maybe some new, exclusive, better loot.
Also: Capcom anounced shortly after elease, that they consider Dragons Dogma a main franchise now. I didn't hear anything, thet suggests, they retired that statement...
What does Dragons Dogma being considered a "main franchise" means? That they consider it financially viable in the future, or one of the "big" CAPCOM titles?
See, and diced for yourself:
