Romance? Affinity? marriage?
I’m a bit confused on the whole affinity/romance mechanic of this game. I’m aware there’s like 2 npcs that have specific romantic scenes to them but I don’t care much for either of them. I’m wondering if you can just like marry a random merchant or something? I’m not too far in the game. I’m aware in the first game that this is possible but I haven’t seen any “proof” that it’s possible in this game? Like yeah you can give gifts to them but is that it?
I was just wondering if anyone else has romanced/gained a high affinity with someone who isn’t Ulrika or Wilhelmina…
Tbh I just want to know so I don’t give gifts to someone I can’t end up marrying or whatever.

I hate to spoil it as much as I want it as well, there is no marriage in this game.

4 things happen when you romance an NPC.
1) When you pick them up you no longer throw them over your shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
2) They leave you gifts hanging on your front door if you own a home.
3) They will sometimes ask you for aid while on the road (i.e., escort missions) by keeping them safe.
4) They occasionally seek you out (while in their home city) and will blush and flirt with you.
As a side note; romancing an NPC is required to complete a part of the Sphinx quest.

Affinity =/= "romance". It can also just represent Really Good Friends / Best Friends / Allies.

(in one version of the closing credits, they show your top 3 highest affinity NPCs & stuff like that. )

Part 4 is false. You can always pick your own pawn and succeed. Speaking sphinx quests.
