Oh if you're specifically looking for lantern fuel you can also craft it. I can't remember what all does it, but I know there's a lot of alternative ingredients. I think it's like rotten food? Or mixed with slime stuff? Or something, but if you save a bunch of stuff like I do you should have some ingredients lying around that should pop out some fuel
Rotten Hapsbud + Any other rotten item = Lantern Oil.

Edit: I will say, with some of the more recent D&D, CRPG games, it seems like posters in forums are quite reluctant to give away consequences of choices in a game. I don't feel like it's that way so much in this game, and I consider that a good thing.
