Phantom Oxcart - Cant approche to Oxcart, can dialog, cant fallow it.
I try to complete each quest on my own, so I don't look for guides or videos. When I have trouble, I read or watch it. I'm on a quest: Phantom Oxcart.
My job is to get into the oxcart and pretend to be a pawn. The first approach... we were attacked by goblins and some creature. Oxcart drove away, quest abandoned.
I've been trying to complete this quest for several days (in-game)
Every time I'm naked, the pieces are kept far away.
I'm trying to do it with and without the lantern, on and off.
Every time I get close, Oxcart drives away.
I can't talk to him, I can't get into oxcart,
when I chase it, it disappears after some time.
what to do ? I approached him from behind, from side, from front, from each side. I was standing in the place where he sleeps and he also ran away.

i have this quest..
im in line : Pursue the oxcart.
Follow the phantom oxcart to its destination and see if it bears any connection to Disa's Schames.

You have to leave your pawns behind waiting somewhere and then strip naked all gear off and WALK slowly towards the Oxcart then talk to the guy.

I did, i apporche him many times. I left pawns on the bridge. I been naked Like naked possible i could be. Slow Fast approche... He is running away.

You can just follow the Oxcart as well if pretending doesnt work, just keep a safe distance from behind and ONLY behind, so he doesnt see you.

you dont have to leave your pawns. just take off all your gear (including rings) and approach the cart at night and talk to the driver. he will tell you to get in. once in the back examine the empty spot and youre good.

tbh you can mess this quest up as you are supposed to ACT LIKE A PAWN.... keep this in mind!!

You can't approach the cart from the front either if you're doing that. The quest is finicky unfortunately. I did it by being naked, leaving the pawns behind, and walking slowly towards the cart from the side.

I know its days ago but i'll tell you how i did it. after talking to the soldier and progressing to the point of the quest where brant tells me to follow or act like a pawn, i told my pawns to wait on the bridge i took everything off and i followed the cliffwall to your left looking at him from the bridge to sneak around behind the cart then i slowly approached him by walking to his driver side and talked to him. he was just like wtf get in a pawn is a pawn and i got in. maybe this will help someone in the future i probably didn't have to do as much as i did but i only have like 2 achievements left so i didn't wanna risk it.

As far as I'm aware, this is the long and the short of it:
When you've handed in the evidence to Brant and you're told to follow the Oxcart, that is the best time to do an Inn Save and wait for night. This is because you only get ONE chance to pretend to be a Pawn.

So you go up to the cart Naked, nothing equipped, walking slowly, and keep your pawns waiting somewhere else. You talk to the cart driver and he'll let you go in and examine a spot to stand.
YES, Goblins spawn. You can go outside when the other pawns do and punch the Goblins. DO NOT ISSUE ANY PAWN COMMANDS or you fail this part on the spot. Don't equip any gear nor use any items either. Just punch goblins and when they're done, get back on the cart as before. You should get a cutscene after that where guards punch you at the checkpoint and you do NOT RESPOND.... or else you fail as before.
Only when the guards are done beating you up do you get the 3rd checkpoint and end up in Battahl... where you'll be ID'd and actually have to fight.

NOW... if you screw up pretending to be a Pawn, you can reload your Inn Save if you made one... OR you'll have to follow the Oxcart....
The Quest Marker will no longer be there, but the Oxcart will spawn in the same place as before. You have to get close enough so it spawns in, but NOT any closer. The driver will start chatting aimlessly to the pawns. He will accelerate a little, but don't get close. You should still be able to follow the cart at a jogging pace without sprinting. If you get too close he will go a lot faster and will shortly despawn, so keep your distance and follow from behind. This will eventually lead to the checkpoint pawn-punching scene, except you're standing quite far away, watching from a distance. Again, don't react... just wait. Then you'll get taken to Battahl and can go hog-wild there as you wish.

Can't confirm that - I approached the cart first time wrong (just talked to him) and the questmarker (yellow blob) dissapeard, I even run behind the cart and the cart went away (because sprint)- but in the next night I could approach the driver (everything off, slow walk) and get in

So there is more than one chance.

Just skip the quest. It has no bearing on how the game plays out at all. I've never played a game where the quests are so pointless.

Well, then you "play" different then I do. :FortunateSon:
Do you have more such positive advices from your "fun" experience? :Top_Secret:
I would recomment to stop "playing" games for you at all. :cleankey:

if people hit you for fun let them do it
when you fight the goblins on the road just punch them bare handed until they die, very pawn like
its pretty sensitive to failing for whatever reason but at least you can follow it if need be
i had the greatest success dismissing pawns entirely but then the last fight u are on ur own
konn Apr 26, 2024 @ 2:20am
when i got into the oxcart and then attacked by goblins i just stayed inside. im not gonna follow order from a nobody as an arisen that's supposed to be a fking king. Anyways so I stayed put in the cart and eventually the cart will move again on its own.

another pro tip: don't use the trickster vocation like me when you initiate the quest. when you fight the guards later on just equip all your weapons and gears back on. sadly i was a trickster so equipping a weapon deals worse damage then if I were bare handed. so i punched everyone to death including the guard which wielded the staff with the red crystal.
