As a solo piece sure, but it's not BiS. There are proper sets that outclass it.
the corset only have abit less armor compare to best heavy armor and abit less magic defence compare to best clother while it is only wieght 1.57kg at max dwaft upgrade
I'm aware that you can check the stats, and as you said enhancing the gear comes into play when comparing the stats. It's not BiS when comparing the final numbers of the corset vs multiple top and bottoms + vocation type + augments + ring effects.
But as RZG said, it doesn't really matter what you wear as long as you like how it looks. You get to the point that stats really stop mattering. I didn't wear a shirt my entire last play-through cause I hated all the trickster gear...was considering just wearing the noble top, but then went for a "mysterious bandit" vibe instead.
Thanks for the answer, that is just so bizarre that they would do that, I guess they want everyone to run around in a one piece swimwear, so much for wanting everyone not to look alike !
