Taking down golems
In DD1, if you weren't playing a dagger type, then you really needed a dagger-type as a pawn. Or, at least that was the case for the equivalent golem type as what I've seen in DD2. And so I've always kep a thief as one of my pawns in DD2, Just to deal with the goelms. (It doesn't hurt that they are really fast at killing enemies in general.) However, in DD2, I am a little annoyed that theif pawns keep stealing from my group. Can other vocations do the full take-down of golems in DD2. Meaning, get to all the magick metal parts on a golem? Or am I stuck with always needing a thief pawn in my group?

i have had a warrior pawn take all the medals on a golem on their own (yes it took like 15 minutes, never again)

Any physical damage pawn can take out golems. Sorcerer also has spells that can kill golems.
If it is just killing, any class can do it. If you specifically want the parts, you might want a class that can do pinpoint attacks (ie. no meteor/maelstrom).

For thieves, I believe you can retrieve the stolen parts from the pawn if you go into the inventory.

You can push the golems over and cause their head to fall off. You press the grab button while you're behind their foot and press towards them. Sometimes pawns will help (if they have a pawn badge they will prioritize doing this), knocking their head off this way trivializes the encounter. Getting them to freeze up (hit a easier to hit medal), then pushing seems to be the strat.

yea golem is pain in the ass, if you warrior or magic caster, this is why i play as archer now.

Golem is probably one of the harder monsters to take down. I've definitely had parties before that couldn't do anything against it (in any reasonable time).

However, pretty much anything with physical damage can do well against it.

I run as a sorcerer myself, and High Seism takes about 3-4 casts to down a golem. Maelstrom is a single cast. Meteor CAN be a single cast too, but I find meteor to be too inconsistent to use tbh.

Basically, anything that isn't heavy on mages/sorcerers. Mages will be pretty terrible against them since they only do magic/elemental damage.

You cant or its realy a long fight, take them down by a Magic spell.
You need to have something to shoot down those round blue and later red lights on its joints and its neck.
One time i try to kill one by Maelstrom and Earcthquake but gave up, since damage is not the key at least for a Golem. You need a close combat weapon or any archer in your team, othewise YOU must climb on its neck and evan if you manage to knock it out, on its shouldeer you will fail bad, since it will shake you off and stomp you dead.

Maybe I will try an archer, instead of a thief, with the one on Volcanic Island, and see how that goes.

Golem's used to be hard until I saw a pawn do this, but if you just grab its foot and either pull it away from its other foot or push it forward it will fall over and its head falls off and it stays down for a long time and then you can just have free range of its seals to take it down immediately

Archer pawn is great for golems. Probably the best pawn for killing golems specifically.

This game doesn't have the same vibe of 'I'm screwed' if you managed to fight a golem without the proper classes. Any class can deal with them pretty well, even a party full of sorcerers and mages can make short work of them if they got the right spells.

When it's head falls off, you can grab and aim it back at the golem. It will shoot it's face lasers at itself.

They don’t actually steal anything, they gather according to their assigned skill. It goes back into your storage when they are swapped.
