Game starts, but doesn't show?
For the last two days, I am unable to properly start the gamne via steam. Other games in my labrary do not show this behaviour. Also, when I restart my computer and start steam, Dragon's Dogma 2 shows the status of already running. So maybe somehow it didn't close properly at a given point in the past? How could I fix that?

So if I start the game in steam, it show the status running in green, but the game is not visible and I can't hear any sound. I tried restarts and reinstalls and the repair mode in steam itself. I also tried to run the game directly via the *.exe and in admin mode, which did not help.

Hardware:
- RTX 4090 (latest driver, I checked)
- Ryzen 7950X3D

I also have a steamdeck and I feared it would stream the game on its screen somehow, but that was not the case.

Thank you in advance

I could fix my problem by deleting the CrsgReport.exe in the folder. So maybe this helps other players with the same issue. :steamhappy:

I'll be damned this worked. What a random fix.
Thanks so much for updating this thread with the solution, you're the best.

Sadly I tried that too, but nothing changes. If I manually stop the process, steam recognizes it, but If I restart the game it doesn't show!
Any other ideas?

try right clicking on a process in the task manager and click go to details, see if the game is running in that list and end it there. Really weird issue as it shouldn't start running by itself. It could be trying to sync cloud saves when you open steam, if you try turning those on or off make a manual back up of your save first

Then its steam it self wich is broken, end steam reboot your pc.
Go then before you restart steam to this Task manager and search for any open running(still running) steam related Task, right click it and select manualy end its process.
Its very rare but still can happen.

I had this happen on a couple of Steam games in the past week... try this, it worked for

I had to re-install the Visual C++ via...
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

Scroll down to...
Latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Version

download and install...
VC_redist.x64
VC_redist.x86

After re-installing these, my games started and worked fine.. I hope they do for you as well !
Good Luck =)

Well thanks a lot, but that did not do the trick for me. I tried reinstalling steam. Which did not help.
I also reinstalled my driver (full reinstall). Strange that there is no error message what so ever.

Does somebody has any other idea?

What I tried so far
- killing the process manually
- reinstalilng (steam, gc drivers, dd2, vc_redist)
- restarting (well, pc, steam, game)
- starting the process manually (with admin)

I have this same issue. Same thing happens with Resident Evil 4 (2023) which uses the same engine. The latest DD2 patch caused this, but I believe the main issue is Windows 11. Are you on Windows 11? I saw on reddit some people were unable to start RE4 after a Windows 11 update. Only thing I can think of, I have done everything I can on my side as well.

The game will launch in my Linux partition but not here on Windows, go figure.

That narrows it down. Because, yes, I am on windows 11 (insider preview 26100.1 (ge_release))

Checking my update history, it may correspond with an secruity intelligence update (KB2267602 Version 1.409.446.0 or newer, since I don't know since when excatly dd2 stopped working)

For me it stopped working with the April 24th update. But RE4 was not launching sometime between now about 2-3 weeks ago so I think you're probably right. I'm also on the insider preview.

Hey Folks,

I can contribute, that with the help of this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2054970/discussions/0/4289188517340849470/

I could fix my problem by deleting the CrsgReport.exe in the folder. So maybe this helps other players with the same issue. :steamhappy:
