When your pawn returns like usual - sometimes you will notice the names are very simple; hard to say how, they just seem plain. When you then go to receive the items from them - you can hover over each line, and then select it to open a prompt.
In the event that "View Arisen" and "View Pawn" options are shaded out - these are either the fake players, or are individuals who have the "Network" settings set to "Offline" (which is just - you can rent like normal, but nobody can rent your pawn/view them).
Seems like I have received a couple over the weekend for example - but I don't know why that would be as I get rented daily (as I do like to view most of the other folks just in-case I want their pawn on my crew). So I assumed they are just offline folks.

I don't think the devs said anything, though.
They have[www.capcom-support.com]. They're not trying to make a secret of it either.
They just have a chance to trigger if you have no hires for a while.
