Dragon's Dogma:Dark Arisen is much better
I think the director of this game sells it without even trying it himself. They don't know the minds and psychology of users. Or maybe he wasn't interested.

Considering all we have is what's out now, it's not wrong to compare each as they are currently available. They are similar enough as to be in direct competition with each other.
They are not comparable in the least, dark arisen took a year to come out and it was a proper expansion, not just a DLC. It provided a proper end-game and you shouldn't assume that DD2 would be the exact equivalent of DD1 + DDDA. That's like saying Monster Hunter Rise should be comparable to MHW: Iceborne. That's inherently a stupid argument.

This game is cursed to churn in ragebait and garbage takes thanks to the d0gshit launch + being a peculiar, divisive game + social media and discord haters dogpiling on it, until months pass and it gets real performance patches an a proper expansion.

I'm not gonna defend the game and say it's perfect, but I'll call out stupid takes when I see them for sure.

Honestly besides everfall argument I personally think when I compare both base games I see pros and cons and i also see where one could play dd2 first and enjoy DD1 and the same way the other way around. That's just me tho. I personally like both games and if we are constructive about our complaints hopefully that eventually leads DD2 in a year or 2 from now to be a better game than DD1.

DD1, pre-DA still had the Every Fall AND the UR-Dragon, so people had a reason to grind levels and max out gear.

Okay, then how about this:

Dark Arisen is pretty much just Dragon's Dogma with hard mode and an extra large dungeon with some new enemies/bosses in said dungeon added. Also speedrun mode if you care about that.

It actually didn't really change the game that much, and the original Dragon's Dogma actually plays better than Dragon's Dogma 2 in pretty much every way (other than Warrior).

I'm really enjoying Dragon's Dogma 2, but the gameplay is pretty much a straight downgrade (again, aside from Warrior). The bigger world and better graphics are nice, but those are really the only particular improvements.

The enemy variety isn't particularly better, because they removed a number of enemies from the first game (including my favorites to fight).

The combat is less responsive, gives you less options, and is sorely lacking impact in some areas (in particular, hitting things with a 1-hander without an enchantment or daggers without an enchantment feels like you're swiping at nothing, which feels absolutely awful).

Will I still play Dragon's Dogma 2 for hundreds of hours? Probably. That said, I have Dragons' Dogma (PS3), Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen (PS3), Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (PS4), Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (PC), and Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (Switch). I love the ♥♥♥♥ out of Dragon's Dogma. Just because I find Dragon's Dogma 2 to be a downgrade in a lot of ways doesn't mean I still don't really like it, because a downgrade from something great can still be great in its own right, even if not as great.

Also, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen didn't need bots and shills to spin positive takes towards it.

Go back to raid /v/ with your 'cord buddies
Don’t know what you’re talking about.

What I do know for a fact at this point in time is that Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is a superior game and it’s cheaper.

if you were original owner of dd1 you got screwed over by having to pay almost full price for the ddda standalone game; so you bought the game twice to get a far better experience over the dd1. luckily i wasn't dumb enough to do that, buying ddda at a hefty discount after it long past came out on pc.
so you would have paid MORE money for dd1+ddda. not really cheaper.
and just to make it a bit more bs your save wasn't compatible with da, so you had to start all over again.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but that doesn't mean you need to make it heard.
Prefer DD;DA? Go play that instead. Why come to the forum of the second game to say the first is better.

I'm personally enjoying DD2 more.

I bought DDA at least 3 times, and I bought it for some friends as well. DA is still the better game.

My DD1 save worked just fine with DA too.

da is superior, dd1 was a travesty of epic proportions.

Why come to a thread about how the first game is better just to say that you disagree?

Thanks for proving me right with that d0gshit take I guess.

It's a common problem with cult classics being brought back. No studio wants to risk not making money. So they can't follow the same formula to a T that made them that cult classic.
