Checkpoint Rest town gate closed?

Am trying to enter from the south and the gate is closed. How can I enter (other than going back to Verm and hiking all the way from there?)

just hitch a ride in the one the royal oxcarts and sneak it. or just keep going in the story

Progress the Main Story quests and eventually it will be described to you on how to do it if you want to enter the gate.

I meant - I took a roundabout - from Verm I hiked all the way to Bakbattahl and its from there Im trying to enter the Checkpoint.

Also Im on the South Side so I cannae use the Oxcart since im right outside the gate (plus its cancelled due to monster attacks)

you gotta buy the house now in bakbatahl to get them to open it.

I just use the mask to cross the checkpoint, and if I am looking for some bigger fights for reward or materials ill go the river route.

There is a secret pasage below the bridge of rest town follow that river road u eventually reach hashbullah country.

wear your beast mask, and it ll auto open. thats why we got 2 inns on each side of gate.

later in game you ll get a general permit which ll auto open it without beast mask.

the mask comes from certain npc merhants, but im not fully sure if its anywhere past checkpoint vermund side.
