Dragon's dogma 2 crashing every 5 minutes
Unfortunately the game keeps crashing, despite having done everything possible to do.

• Update CPU and GPU, and socket for b550
• Change game installation folder from D disk to C disk (where windows is installed).
• Tried changing the 3d settings in the Nvidia control panel
• Tried to uninstall and install the game
• Tried to delete all save files and setting from steam
• Tried to run as administator (Steam and game.exe from the folder)
• Tried to uninstall and reinstall nvidia driver in "clean mode"
• Tried to update direct X
•Tried to download update for C++ and microsoft restributable ecc...
• Tried to set hight priority for the game
•Tried to set low grapichs setting
• Tried to changing file confing.ini and default confing and start with directx 11.

AT LAST, I tried to uninstall and reinstall windows 11 pro in "clean mod" with support creation kit microsoft.

I tried all things for prevent the game from crashing, nothing to do.... I really don't know why this game has this horrible optimization for am4 sockets...

In the crashes reports, there's always the same problems of: KERNEL MODULE SYSTEM 32, dd2.exe and D3D12.
I FIX ALL WINDOWS ERRORS, cpu and gpu errors... NOTHING TO DO!

These are my PC specs:

OS: Windows 11 Pro
CPU: Amd Ryzen 7 5800x3d
GpU: Nvidia geforce rtx 4060 TI 16GB VRAM
MOBO: Asus rog strix b550 A-gaming
Monitor: 1920x1080 144Hz (AOC)

IF somebody knows how can I fix this crash, pls, contact as soon as possible. I tried to contact capcom's support, only 1 answer and after, ALL DEATH.

What kind of crash? Vocation guild menu crash is common and vary from system to system there might be nothing you can do but wait for capcom to fix.
Self made problems caused by intel + Amd mix / Amd + Nvidia..
Also same hdd as your os is a big minus, if its not a M2 ssd bc of the bottleneck 2 same lanes going same time to your cpu and back.
I have only crashes if i try to create a new Game, and stay more than 2 minutes into the char creation section. Anything else works fine.

I mean, a bit of a hail Mary, but have you tried running it in compatibility mode for a different Windows version?

Also, did the character creation pre-release work without issue?

I forgot to mention, it would be worth trying rolling back your Nvidia drivers to a previous version. Some versions don't work well with some card and game combinations, so there are a lot of people who swear by previous versions as being a lot more stable.

Do you happen to have your virtual memory set to a manual value in Windows?

I dont think the mix matter. I got 5 system that i use to play this and 2 of them got crash issue, the other 3 never crash.

R9 5950X + 3060Ti + HDD = Vocation guild crash
R9 5950X + RTX A5000 + NVMe = Vocation guild crash
R5 3600 + 2080Ti + NVMe = 0 crash
i7-8086k + 2080Ti + SSD = 0 crash
i9-9900k + 2080Ti + SSD = 0 crash

Technically the A5000 is the most powerful system there and it still crash, and the trashy R5 3600 system never crash despite being amd+nvidia.

Go to your installation folder i.e.
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragons Dogma 2 //
Right click on the DD2.exe, property->compatibility-> flag the box ->run as admin, ok-> apply; run the game and check if it keep crashing. I'd the same issue, as soon as I've set the exe like this, it worked like a charm.

I know this type of comment never helps anyone but yeah, i'm also having the same problem, i can't go 5 minutes of play without crashing within 10 seconds, i have save manager, so i go, okay, i load the immediate save right before the crashing one, and then it crashes within 5 seconds of that one too

i was not having this problem before, until a week ago, 100+ hours of play in so far

I’m having the same issue. Mine didn’t start until last night when I have to escort the elven to a location around vern. Now I can’t play the game longer than 5 seconds without the game freezing.

WOW. You even tried reinstalling your Windows?! :DD

In my humble opinion, this doesn't sound like an issue with the game's files or your PC specs... more like Steam...

I have been documenting game issues in my blog (GameScopes.com) and have gone over a troubleshooting guide for Dragon's Dogma 2 crashing. Here are the 10 methods I have included:

1. Launch DD2 As an Administrator
2. Run the Game in Compatibility Mode
3. Verify Dragon’s Dogma 2 File Integrity
4. Set the Game as a Firewall Exception
5. Stop the “Overlay” Feature in Steam
6. Reinstall Dragon’s Dogma 2 Cleanly
7. Set the Windows Defender to “Off”
8. Update Visual C++ Redistributables
9. Set Windows to “High Performance”
10. Close Background Windows Tasks

Here's a link to the guide if you want to go through the solutions in detail:

You might want to add "Reinstall DX11 and DX12" or just "Reinstall Direct X."

As well as, "Try running the game in DX11, instead of its native DX12."

These are two solutions I've seen mentioned as working for some.

You've put together a good list of troubleshooting steps. Thanks for that!

Did you update the BIOS? that's what fixed my constant crashes on an R5 5600x.

went from crashing every 1-10 minutes to not crashing at all. (well i've had 4 since then, but 2 were upon exit and 2 were in front of the bahkbatthal inn for some reason.)
