What is Volcanic Island Camp supposed to be

So I'm in NG+ and at this point share all the spoilers you want because I need to know why this place is so scuffed with who is here.

I have yet to complete the first 3 quests from Brant, the culling and Disa's plot stuff, but I visit this place often for the Spa. I knew from my first playthrough that some of your high affinity NPCs would visit, but didn't know why. Just assumed it was like "oh they like the hot springs too"

But does something happen later in the game that this becomes like a hub or something because otherwise why is SVEN here and why did he just SAUNTER out of the camp just to get attacked by enemies. BOY GO HOME

I mean, the amount of named NPCs that I have had here and that get into danger is silly. The elf people, the Harve and Melve people, Trysha's little posse, like WHAT IS THIS PLACE

I totally forgot I made this thread. After playing through the full game a few times I think I agree with this the most. That or they used too generalized of a trigger for who should be granted access.

Agree as well. IMO the obvious fall point is the coronation. And then the following zones. For example the game never touch the subject of the flame those people worship, which seems should have being a prominent object for the desert zone.

The whole volcano island somehow mostly a run through for the gigantus. Like, I only found out there is a working ropeway in NG+, because I didn't do any quest and rushed there. Apparently the quest just make it unusable at the encampment side.
