the second quickest way is to do quests.
no advice on how to makey money since i never run out of it without even farming, it just naturally came to me when exploring.
Look for pawns that have quests paying 5 and 10k gold. My pawn frequently has these as I am collecting his badges. Get a forager pawn they seem to like to pick things up the most.
1) Diggers cave: Sell all the coal there, you make 10k each run and then rest for 7 days to repeat.
2) Thief Steal and gold augment: Nuff said, just steal everything with the thief skill.
Once you reach late game you can just go hunt something and gold will come your way I usually liked to kill golems on lower lvls near Battahl. it's 1.2k gold per one Magisk Medal and they usually drop a lot.
i spent 0 gold on anything except ferrystones and quest stuff.
you don't need to spend money on gear if you explore enough. and the endgame is using wyrm crystals to get the endgame gear.
the fastest way to get gold is buying cheap food from one town, letting it ripen. and mass turning in at a vendor that pays premium for it, i've seen strategies that claim over 400k / hr doing this, but didn't bother because never needed gold.
the game is too easy, and made easier by keeping all your items up to date via vendors. by the midpoint of the game you're OP without much gear.
it's not harmful to spend gold on new gear, just overkill, especially with a few unmoored/ng playthroughs where you'll be selling most of the gear you get
