This or Dark Arisen In Current State?
Hi All,

Been on the fence about buying Dragons Dogma 2 since hearing about all the optimisation issues. I don't really have an issue with any other aspects of the game but was wondering if I should just play Dark Arisen (I'm a fan of original Dragons Dogma) or bite the bullet and play Dogma 2 in its current state and hope to get minimal/no issues with performance. I will end up getting Dogma 2 at some point, however I'm wondering if its better to wait until performance issues get patched.

Any Dark Arisen players out there who have played Dogma 2 who can give their opinion?

DDDA is complete, DD2 is just pretty.

Nearly 400 hours in Dark Arisen and 100 in DD2 myself, I'd say wait for some performance patches before buying.

DDDA is bigger bang for your buck at the moment.

I supposedly have the recommended amount to play with I7, RTX 2080 and 16gig ram on my Asus laptop. Been able to play fairly demanding games on here. Not any I couldn't play if set overall quality to normal.
I played a crap ton of DD1 back on PS3. so was pumped and excited alot for this. So bought this without even caring I just wanted to play it and try it.
I had to turn everything off and to the very lowest amount relating to overall game quality.
You actually get warning if using setting to high for your PC. Which I don't get all at the current lowest amount at all. Could even go further and still not get that warning.
Yet for me it's almost unplayable, I lag so bad i'm near playing my entire game in slow motion about 70% of the time.
I am still enjoying the game and is still able to manage somehow but it sucks for sure.

If you have better PC specs and use A desktop. You may do fine on your performance unlike me. So peeps seem to have no problem some can't even play with constant crashing. It's all pretty much a gamble. Also doesn't seem like there really towards anything to betterr this game. Almost feels as if the Devs or company don't really give ♥♥♥♥. When considering other Devs usually inform us on post. What there next steps are how they plan to fix things.
So may not even get any better performance fixes this maybe as good as it gets. Especially also considering the very bad start they had.

Damn, I'm running a similar system on my desktop and looks like the game in its current state will struggle with i7 and RTX 2080 :steamsad:

Yeah really shouldn't be that bad imo. With that it should run great on the overall medium settings if anything. So struggling on lowest settings with those specs isn't good. Think few I heard even had problems running it with a RTX 4080.

its all about the cpu, i have a 4080 and i get 60 fps in town. but im using a 13700

If you never got into Dark Arisen, definitely do that. With a bit of luck, the performance will be fixed in DD2 by the time you are done, even tho it's not as bad as people make it out to be, if you have okay CPU and GPU. And I mean okay, not great or "top".

DD1 is complete and cheaper, so there's no real reason to buy the newer one first unless you want to keep up with people who are playing or be on the cutting edge.

Calling DD1/DDDA "complete" is a huge joke. I enjoyed it a lot but let's not act like the main game isn't also short and a bunch of stuff wasn't cut. BBI is also cool but ends up being a short dash into a RNG roulette for gear since they wanted some type of grind. And don't get me started on augments being bugged or terrible.

That aside, yes it is usually much cheaper and the performance requirements are much less taxing, so that'd probably be my pick between the two right now. Hopefully DD2 sees performance and content updates to close the gap a little.

Considering that I can't play Dark Arisen on my tower without crashing every 10 seconds, and the fact that I love DD2 anyway, Imma stick with DD2.... Before anyone asks, my specs are:

Windows 11
Core i7 13700KF
RTX 4070 12GB
64GB DDR5 RAM
1TB m.2 + 2TB m.2

If you are a big fan of DD1 but haven't played the expansion, then you should play Dark Arisen. Is you are a big fan of DD:DA, then you should play DD2. Otherwise, I'd say wait for DD2 improvements, or just get DD:DA and enjoy it. Gameplay is much the same in DD2, just with better graphics and some QOL improvements, but at the cost of performance.
Dark Arisen is done, and this one needs more performance patches.
So: Dark Arisen.

Dark Arisen on sale is really cheap. Play that and figure out if you'd like this type of game. By the time you get to this one hopefully an expansion would have released and further improved it.
