Dragon's Dogma 2

Dragon's Dogma 2

Statistiche:
[May be Spoiler] When does the game decide who is the beloved?
I know that the dragon will kidnap the beloved when end game. I don't want the beloved to be a random guy, so I want to know which quest or when will the game trigger the kidnap so I can try to adjust affinity before the event.
I heard a lot of tragedies in DDDA so I have to try my best to avoid it.

As far as i know that moment you go into the ruins in the Camp (To bring the Sword Pheasus) until that moment my "beloved" was always on his place
So it's a mission that include Pheasus I suppose? I'll wait and see.
Flickering Shadows, after that quest you're pretty much getting to the end.
There's another quest after it, but then you're locked in iirc, i'd recommend doing what you need before/during Flickering Shadows to be sure.
NTA I think beloved is not as prominent in DD2.
Game will do some weird thing with the beloved. Like it picked Ulrika for the dragon for me, But then in the True Ending it was the Elven Archer you help that was standing by the ocean mourning, Since you killed the watcher over the ocean, same way Grigori dies if you use the godsbane. Though they showed Ulrika helping in the town while smiling at someone in the background, so maybe my character survived though doubtful.
But oddly enough the actual ending scenes gave me someone different that was mourning, or their scenes are static. Besides the old senile Arisen living in the fishing hut finally getting his boat out to see.

I had this happen due to the fact I had affinity maxed with both Glyndwr and Doireann, and they were some of the last max affinity NPCs I actually talked to before ending the game, and my beloved was someone else entirely during the dragon face-off. This is because if you have multiple NPCs maxed on affinity, the game picks who you talked to last as your most beloved of the lot, and this can change it between the dragon and the true end if you talk to NPCs.
I'm pretty sure it just chooses the NPC you have the highest affinity with except for your main pawn. The NPC in that scene changed from Ulrika to Sara after I had reloaded a prior save and did a bit more stuff but all quests were already done save for that "last" quest.
You won't get any tragedy in concern to your "romance" unless you cause it with intent so just go with whomever you like the most. In the unmoored world your "lover" gets a cute ending slide, it better not be some trader for the discount lmao
I want my first beloved Fournival back.

p sure rivage is a pawn[[/spoiler]
Sadly, I think many believe your beloved will actually matter... when it mostly doesn't. I wanted Ulrika, I got Ulrika, I made sure to gift her flowers etc right before the point of no return in the main quest. But it was such a random moment and with almost zero emotional impact, your "beloved" also vanishes into thin air after the cutscene, there never is ANY follow up dialog, nothing really, it's a random cutscene. In fact, I care a lot more about my own pawn and I wish the game would let your pawn become your beloved, as your pawn is the only NPC always by your side.

I also have an affinity tracker mod installed (I wanted to know how much everyone is in love with my Arisen) and one good thing is that while at times you may have a dozen or more NPCs in "love" with the Arisen, affinity slowly decreases over time when you no longer interact with someone. So if the entire elf family is in love with you (which was the case after the elven questline) they will merely "like" you after several hours and no further gifts or escort quests. So if you pick one NPC to be your beloved, just make sure not to accept any escort quests for any of the other NPCs showing up at your door, because one escort quest alone will give about 50% full affinity (max value is 299, you go from 0 to about 150 or so after just ONE escort quest).

Btw your main pawn has 1,000 max affinity, after 620 or so your main pawn will show signs of being in love with the Arisen. But this will never have an impact on who the dragon choses as your beloved.

But really, I would not lose sleep over it, it's such a super short random moment without ANY lasting effect on the story that even random NPC #48 as your beloved would hardly change anything. In my head canon the Arisen and pawn are a couple, end of story ;-) They live in the same house (and the other two pawns always wait outside), they sleep in the same bed, they spend virtually every minute of every day together. And the pawn blushes like any other NPC that is in love with the Arisen.

There is this little thing tho, apparently you can show sphinx your pawn as your beloved. And it approves, that was also early my pawn isn't even high affinity to me.
