after the side mission i couldnt find him anymore , is there anyway to make him spawn on the mist woods?

Sounds like it is a random spawn at night at any location...possibly near water.

I didn't encounter any until very late in the game, but then again I didn't travel at night much.

I have encountered loads in the end game, which also seems to permanently be set at night? They absolutely LOVE to sit on bridges. Some kind of headless horseless tollman, I dunno.

Stone bridges in particular. You might find a few if you sleep until midnight and then explore Vermund around all of its stone bridges.

Get to the post game and you'll find plenty. I've killed 16 already, almost as many as ive killed minotaurs or golems.

That sucks man. I met them twice in a row while roaming near volcanic island but they could be found in other places too. Pretty sure it’s randomly spawned. When they show up you will see there’s fog in the area

Only time I came upon one outside the Till Death Do Us Part quest randomly was when I was coming back from Nameless Village at night (didn't have a ferrystone on me), saw the blue glow on the closest bridge to it and was like "That can't be dullahan right?"

Well, I did try to cross that bridge, I ended up struggling to survive for next 10 minutes when I got saved as my loss gauge maxed out by dawn's first light. They are an encounter to be sure. Especially early.

But yeah, you can try that spot, closest bridge to nameless village, dunno if you gotta have quest done there or not for it. Or if the location is set at all either.
