FIX THE VOCATION MENU!!!
How is a new start button more important than a game breaking crash due to the mini video player in the vocations menu.

There is plenty of people having this issue due to the mini video player in the vocation menu one work around is to manually set your vram.

Restart your pc and delete the shaders cache file in the game install folder and that should fix that issue at least for a while

Actually the first I heard about it too. So it is a small population (not that your problem isn't important), but you also have to understand that your problem isn't the majorities problem too.

That said, sounds like you saw a solution, and it is individual to you and your vram usage. An upgrade or adjustment to settings fixes it so you know what the issue is. How old is your gfx card? If it's new then that is a big problem, if it's old...well there you go.

Appreciate the info well done. But we need actual fixes from the devs.

I’ve made it stop entirely but I’m not sure what setting I changed that did it.

I changed dlss to balanced, framerate type variable, rtx on, moved textures to 1gb, and uninstalled my graphics drivers with DDU and reinstalled the latest ones, deleted the shaders cache file, and replaced the dlss file with the updated one that’s shared via a mod.

I can’t say what stopped it but after doing all that it never happened again and I gained a ton of fps game feels smooth.

3 year old card shouldn't be that dated. My card is 5 years old (radeon 5700 XT) and it is running just fine. I have even left the game on afk and never had an issue (I check to vocational tips in the tutorial log as I change vocations and try to learn the skills, so the videos there have not crashed me yet).

I guess the other questions would be, how much physical ram do you have, what is your resolution at when playing the game, have you updated all your drivers, etc.

Since it does not crash every time and more likely over time, it sounds like a memory leak honestly. Question is, why is your memory leak happening and not as noticeable in the majority of players.

Paging file on windows....
Zram or swap file on Linux...
Increase size of page file, zram, or swap file... Steam decks a re popular...♥♥♥♥ all this ♥♥♥♥ sitting at a desk with a massive heater next to me all day in a dark room...rtx 4090....my graphics card isnt the size of my upper torso, is the problem..... RIGHT ....how bout devs fix their games....

The skill videos use and insane amount of backend ram, aka paging file or swap file(also zram) depending on OS and distro. Increase max allowed memory for these... Obviously make sure or ssd isn't full to the brim to accommodate the extra size....aka 4gb is not enough I don't think 8 GB is either. I could test this but I run Bazzite on go it would crash on skill videos all the time.... original zram was 4gb a increased it to 60 GB...yes insanely high but I also have 2 TB SSD installed...no crashes.... Period since....those skill videos are you're problem....ram graphics cards don't fix this
...it is purely a coding problem in the games batch bin, or con files pick one cause devs don't know either.... Increasing paging file size fixes this or equivalent depending on OS

Ah yes, these videos are the only reason if my game crashed. It happens if a skill video play and I forgot to change to no skills, so that no video play if I leave the menu. So, I just make this extra step, and this stopped all crashing for me. I swap often my skills out without issue now. Would love the possibility just to remove these videos. I read on reddit that should help too to set the image Quality slider down. Dunno if this helps.

On very rare occasions, the minivideos caused my game to crash. It happened 2 times in 400 hours.

I have the same vocation menu crash and I cannot believe they still haven't fix it yet.
