unclear. elements adds status effects, like u might freeze target for a while or you can apply burn DoT. but game doesnt explain if an element adds extra dmg to attacks atm, we cant see which enemy is weak or strong against an element. so its hard to answer.very basic health bars and lack of dmg numbers not really helpful neither.
Also, for elemental weapons, I noticed their magic stat isn't zero like physical ones, so I'm guessing their % is the % of magic they can apply to the damage as extras?
IE: The lightning dagger has 10% electric damage, so I'm guessing if I had 1000 magic it would deal an extra 100 elemental damage per hit, while the Almace (frost sword) has 120% frost, so with 1000 magic it should deal 1200 extra cold damage instead, but I have absolutely no idea if that's the case.
I've also noticed that if I have a warrior with the holy mace and I enchant her weapon, her mace still has the holy effect, but the shield glows in the color of the element I used to enchant her, so I have no idea if it's stacking 2 types of damage, or if it's just enchanting shield attacks as it seems like it's a different, physical weapon too.
The information in this game is rather confusing.
I'm kinda guessing, but I've invested into physical weapons for my pawn for this reason:

ID: IJQ6SA8NTA3C If anyone wants to test it with similar but elemental weapons with 2 pawns at once, I don't have the eye to properly notice where attacks hit+how much of a bar was removed with each attack, so I'm just investing in it blindly.
I'm also of the mind that fighters have way too much defense, so I prefer to look for armors with more magic defense instead, so they can tank all types of damage instead of taking no physical damage, then getting 1 shot by dragon magick, but I also don't really know the math behind defenses or if it's even worth trying to increase M.def when it's base value is so low.
That's what I'm thinking too.
But I just thought of something else just now, what if the same element stacks instead of getting overriten? Would it be possible to get an ince enchant+ice daggers to nuke bosses?
I play thief and use ice blade. My mage pawn never buff me but they will buff other pawn if they use no elemental weapon.
Damage bonus calculate from magic stat. Never test to see how much it effect but every elemental weapons almost alway has high magic stat. If magic not effect elemental damage then there is no reason for high magic stat for those weapons.
Vs
A pure physical team, probably with an archer, and with a mage buffing them with good elemental weapons
Maybe optimal elemental damage would be fire with electricity enchants for hard CC?
The ingame description shows status effects can help or hinder certain damage types.
IE: Drenched
Fire Damage attacks will deal reduced damage
Ice Damage attacks will leave you ice-bound.
Lightning Damage attacks will leave you numb
Being on fire also ends when you drench the target, but other elemental interactions are unclear, like in your example, is it even possible to freeze an enemy on fire?
Lately I've been running a team with physical weapons and/or sometimes one guy with a natural lightning weapon, then I hire a mage with frost enchants, and as an archer I carry around drenching arrows, killing bosses with permafreeze and sometimes numb is very easy.
Was playing as thief, my mage cast ice weapons on me and i used the flame skill (didn't hit the enemy with it, only got the buff and then started attacking), so my weapons were blazing hot, red and glowy, after a few attacks the enemy started burning, while at the same time freezing, lol
