Dragon Plague?
Kinda curious, how long (in term of gameplay H) did it take ya to encounter this mechanic for the first time?

Took me over 40 hours before I got my first tutorial message about it.
I haven't because I make sure I can see their eye's before i hire them. I notice this is a thing when the starter pawn in the begin of the game that introduces you to the first rift stones eyes became red the next time I saw her....and I knew

75 hours, and I willingly rented a pawn with it to do some testing about how it works/spreads

Edit : If curious, this is what I did to test :
- Found the infected pawn, dismissed the other 2 I had, so I would only have mine and the infected one
- When I left the Riftstone, there was an immediate red-aura that enshrouded the pawn, and then they looked normal. This is because...
- It spreads upon leaving the rift when rented alone; I tested this thoroughly
-- Slept in a camp for 2 days to not kill NPCs
-- Fought enemies to confirm dialogue (brought myself low, and the pawn will insult you even at times)
-- Threw only my pawn into the brine
-- Kept the originally infected pawn and went back to Volcanic Island town
-- Waited on the bench 12 times (3 days)
-- Nobody died
-- Recalled my pawn
-- Waited on the bench 12 more times
-- Warped to checkpoint town, walked to Harve, waited on another bench 4 times
-- Walked to Capital and went into the rift for a new pawn
-- No aura or anything, slept a few days at home
- Plague is no longer in my party, and nobody died

For me it, I got my first notification about it around 60 hours into the game. Dragonsplague is though; yesterday I hired a Gandalf (Calm) and he showed no signs of disobedience nor headache, then I went to rest at an Inn, and boom everyone in Sacred Arbor died. As far as I know, straightforward characters are the easiest to tell when they're infected.

I beat the game twice and did not encounter such a thing. It's just rumors.

Maybe 10 hours or so? I think it depends on your level though. Not inherently, like if you're below a certain level you can't get it... but if it is contracted by chance, when you fight drakes, then you will only get it once you start hiring pawns of people that have fought drakes and lived.

The thing that was weird for me is that by the time I got the pop up, I had heard about the plague and people saying getting it meant the pawn you hired has it as long as it has never happened before. So I looked at the pawn's eyes and everything. Listened to their dialogue and there were no signs they had it. And nothing ever happened.

Wait, I don't think I fully understood this part.

However long it takes you to find a dragon, as it is the dragons/drakes that infect your pawns.

You can also hire one from the rift, but that is easily avoidable.

Not a rumor, actually is a thing. The pawns comment on it even when you do not have it. It just seems to be rare.

I read somewhere that when a pawn passes the disease to another pawn the "patient zero" gets automatically cured.
If its true then probably the sick pawn passed the disease to your main pawn, upon passing the disease the pawn got cured and as you recalled your own pawn later on maybe she got cured too?

They certainly do pass it and immediately cure themselves - am imagining the red aura was the "spread action" from the infected one I rented, as they also went back to yellowish eyes (was a cat person "SphinxChild" - eyes in the rift at first where like a magma orange/red).

I did also make sure to dispose of my pawn kinda quick to try and prevent her from spreading it as "brine'ing" them also cures your own pawn, but I know 1 person rented them at least as she came back when I slept in town (could have been from before though - she only had it about 30 real minutes).

Also helped address my fear that keeping the pawn without also dismissing them would cause it to re-contract on leaving a rift later, but the fact it didn't is good.

Only thing I can't speak to is if it picks one of the party to infect, or if it pings the others without it, so you can go from 1 to 2 infected (vs 1 to 1).

I started a new game, and hired rook. Immediately the dragonplague warning pop up. Wasted a few hundred RC.

I got <40 hours in before I got a dragonplague pawn, now I'm constantly on the lookout for signs.

I suddenly heard my pawn start to talk about the plague a few hours ago but none of my pawn seemed to be infected, in the end I changed them (or maybe they died when I tried to kill that chimera at level 15 and had to cheese it) so later on I didn't hear of it anymore, but I've actually never any of the symptoms so far, never had the pop up or the mass murder afterwards, so i was starting to wonder wether I dodged a bullet or the game was just randomly warning me about some kind of threath I hadn't met yet.

From what we can tell so far, you don't have to worry about it until you see that pop up for the first time. From that point forward, and to be clear you won't get that pop up ever again in that play through, you have to worry about it.
