Failed the Riddle of Madness
I failed the Riddle of Madness on a technicality, I was going to offer my pawn because that's where my thinking was but I was not sure the game was going to register me putting them in front of the Sphinx, and so when it asked if this was my answer I said no (plus it staring at me unnerved me), thinking well i'd have the chance to re-answer, but no it just failed. Guess this is one of those technical shortcomings of the game.

Unfortunately I missed out on the port-crystal, but as I continue am i going to miss out on a cumulative prize? One you need all the riddles to unlock?

Unless you fail one more time you won't miss out on the rest of the prizes.
But just a heads up, she takes off regardless at the end and apparently you gotta kill her for the grand prize. And the only way to kill her is to use the unmaking arrow(which is a reward for the riddle of recollection).
So proceed with caution.

No, you don't kill her. You have to attack her backend (not her front) until she rewards you. You don't need to use the arrow or kill her.

Got it, she likes it from behind.

hmmm are you sure about that? I'm fairly certain I answered no and it just backs off, not fail.

also if you only do 1 pawn it states "why not more" so I'm pretty sure you can do all 3

I thought that if you fail at all, she flies off and you miss out on everything else. I'm not sure the OP actually failed.

I'm pretty sure this riddle is part of the first 5 riddles so they should not attack her if this is true. She does fly off though to a second location and you can hurry up and climb on her and ride her to that location. Player should leave a port crystal down before answering the 5th riddle... once they answer, don't worry about opening the chest, just climb on top of her and once on top of her, stab holding her so your stamina will come back. At some point, you'll have to grab her again or else you will fall before making it there. Make sure you have a wakestone on you. There's a chance you will fall off her during the cutscene and die. Put a port crystal there. Teleport to the port crystal at the previous Sphinx location, open the chest. Take that port crystal with you and do whatever with it. AND REMEMBER... Finding her at the second location counts as one of the riddles you solved... and remember, it's about how many riddles you have SOLVED.

You could kill her like that, and that is easier, but if you fight her the proper way (as Demon of Razgriz described) you'll get some dialogue from her. Then again, maybe you still get dialogue your way. And even if you don't, you still get the treasure and you don't risk doing it wrong and failing if someone does it your way.

You are correct. If you do less than 3, she says something like "Why not more?" if you do 3, she says something about how you're a glutton. Either way, you pass.

You can cheese this (kinda) if you have to, just go back to your last inn save.

So yeah you can technically save scum, in a game that wanted to prevent all save scumming....wait

Long as you know in advance, otherwise... oh the pain if it turns out it had been hours before since you slept at an inn. Pain I know all to well when I encountered a moderately serious bug, not really game breaking but I wanted this thing... and had to load save from inn. Oh the horror when I saw where I was Hahaha. Lol, my jaw dropped as my brain screamed "Nuuuuu!"

That was what it seemed had happened, I answered no to re-think if she was going to register my pawn there, I didn't want it to think I was presenting myself...but the Riddle of Madness was no-longer in the selection when I re-spoke to it.
