I too am enjoying playing DD2.
I'm going to exceed 100 hours of play before I go on my second round.
I'm enjoying the detours and can't seem to make progress in the main storyline.
What? Dragons Dogma 1 or 2 don't even make it into Platinum Titles from Capcom.
You can check their homepage.
Street Fighter 2 is their highest selling game, Followed by Monster Hunter : World, Then RE5, RE4, RE7, RE6, RE2R, Monster Hunter 3, and USF4, and Monster Hunter : Rise etc.
You'd have to go all the way down to the bottom, and compare both Dragons Dogmas sales numbers to DMC5. Which has moved 7.8 Million units + DLC sales.
More sales then first Dragons Dogma which came out 12 years ago.
Dragon's Dogma 2 has moved 2.5 Million units.
Makes it comparable to EA's Star Wars: Jedi Survivor.
Which sold over 1 Million copies. But is a bit off from being good enough to have sold 10+ Million units. Due to the main story being short, and it plagued by optimization issues. Much like Dragons Dogma 2.
sounds familiar?
ofc once the issues got ironed out the game could actually be appreciated properly and recovered easly, which cant be said for dd2 as of yet
Bet you feel stupid lol, letting your fanboy love get the better of you without knowing your CapCom history.
Agree on this part, Street Fighter 2 is one of the highest revenue grossing games of all time!
People really don't understand how ridiculously popular SF2 was during the early 90s, when it literally brought the arcade scene out of bankruptcy and ushered in a 2nd Golden Age in the arcades not seen since the days of Pacman prior to it.
SF2 was the #1 Entertainment Product in the entire world from 1991-1993, that means that Music, Movies, TV shows, etc, etc were all vying for the 2nd position during that stretch.
Jurassic Park released in 1993, and was considered the best movie of that year...yet it was the #2 Entertainment product in the world...#1? Yep, Street Fighter II (SF2: Hyper Fighting in particular in 1993).
During that three year stretch, 1993 was the weakest of those three years and yet it made around 1.6 billion in revenue, which would be 3.3 billion with today's inflation.
If I remember correctly, SF2's entire run made around 7-8 billion in revenue, which has placed the SF series in the Top-10 Highest grossing video-game franchises of all time at nearly 11 Billion in total.
I believe it's either 7th or 8th place all time, I can't remember anymore.
Capcom will more than likely Never EVER reach that type of Craziness again like they did back in era, and yet even as special as Monster Hunter World/Iceborne was, and that WAS a special game, however it still paled in comparison to what Street Fighter 2 achieved for Capcom back in the early 90s.
Lastly, 2.5 million sales within a Week, along with a turmoil of Hot and Cold takes for Dragon's Dogma 2 is NOTHING short of Amazing.
Unit sales are in ten thousands.

Adding Dragon's Dogma 2, the DD series sold 10.9 million units.
2.5 million, congratulations!
The expectations are pretty silly sometimes, but it's also based on recouping budgets and expectations based on the popularity of the franchise.
DD2 probably has a lower budget and lower sales expectations than RE. Compared to RE it's not really a big name.
I'm interested to know too.
The game has already recouped expenses and salary for Capcom. Any more sales beyond this is just profit.
The fact all the best items are sold by a vendor instead of having some post game farm and replayability like in the first game with the Everfall prove they had no idea what to do.
The Everfall and BBI was made because the gameplay of Dragon’s Dogma is really good but not having anything to enjoy the gameplay of DD2 after finishing the main story is such a huge disappointment and it really shows the devs doesn’t even know what the players wanted.
