Nope OP, those are just lazy cutoffs. Would have been cool if those blockages opened up in the unmoored world for hard dungeons but Capcom is just too lazy and not that creative.

I get why you think there would be some way to open them though, since it's usually the same copy/paste one for all of them, video game logic insinuates that they'd be open-able by explosives or something.

I read somewhere that catapults on top of towers open new areas.

Yeah I am curious about those too, but pretty sure it is either going to be DLC or cut content.

They are not referring to the clearly breakable ones. The screen shots are from inside locations or tucked in.

But to OP no i've not found anything for the filled in archways. Just the normal breakable rocks.

Some caves are just like that - closed.
The ones that can be unlocked via catapults/explosions look different - less flat texture, and more big rocks.

Some things change when the story progresses (like one of the bridges gets repaired) but I don't know if it affects any particular cave.

Those doesn't look like breakables, breakable ones are usually a cluster of rocks, easily recognizable, those in your screenshot looks like an actual part of the environment, rather than a blockade..

Find an empty catapult nearby and put a boulder on it, it wil unlock the blocked paths
