They are not referring to the clearly breakable ones. The screen shots are from inside locations or tucked in.
But to OP no i've not found anything for the filled in archways. Just the normal breakable rocks.
The ones that can be unlocked via catapults/explosions look different - less flat texture, and more big rocks.
Some things change when the story progresses (like one of the bridges gets repaired) but I don't know if it affects any particular cave.
I get why you think there would be some way to open them though, since it's usually the same copy/paste one for all of them, video game logic insinuates that they'd be open-able by explosives or something.

Interesting. Probably for expansion then. I just passed through that cavern and my pawns even remarked excitedly an unexplored location but nothimg there.
