I don't think it's related to time. I've had them start to run away just a few minutes into the fight.
And before someone says it, damaging the wings does not work either.

Maybe going heavy on the ice element to freeze them might work but i'm not sure of that
alternatively, hit its wings. once it's been damaged badly enough, it can't fly away.
griffons are easier to keep on the ground. just burn them with fire.
The other dragons you have to pull out some insane damage and kill it on the first down because getting the 2nd down is much harder.
to kill it on the 1st down you need a heavy hitting move like arc of might and its a shame warfarer cant use it lol.
only warrior can use that ultimate skill unfortunitly even though warfarer can use all weapons.
Dragons seem to gain alot of resistence to being knocked down after you do it once.
when i was early game i fought a dragon for 20 minutes without it leaving.
For Griffins, just set their wings on fire. NO, setting their wings on fire once is not going to make them stay. But if you burn their wings as they try to leave, that will force them to fall out of the sky.
I just stop playing the game because of this.
Dragons are a bunch of puss*es in Dragon's Dogma 2.
Even to prevent them from flying away, this is the 5th time it's happened to me and I don't understand. I have no trouble fighting them, the only problem is that they just run away so I'm just wasting time with them. And for some reason, I can't follow them as they disappear when they are too far from me.
Is it scripted ? I'm not supposed to be able to kill them because I'm not far enough into the story or what's the logic here ?
