Preventing Dragons from Running away?
I've been failing to kill dragons for a while now, mostly because they fly away unless hard-CCed. This is probably the dumbest mechanic I've encountered on any enemy so far.

Any way to prevent it?

more damage, as far as i know they only fly away if the fight drags too long, same for griffons

I don't think it's related to time. I've had them start to run away just a few minutes into the fight.

And before someone says it, damaging the wings does not work either.

This keeps happening with griffons keep doing the same thing to me. and the golems are annoying as hell to fight sometimes for me.

Drakes*

I know that for Griffins they can't fly if their wings are on fire, but for drakes i don't think there's anything we can do if they decide to take off...

Maybe going heavy on the ice element to freeze them might work but i'm not sure of that

I hate this mechanic. Fighting dragons underleveled has been some of the most fun I had in the original. Sure, they also ran, but they landed closeby and not just disappear into the sunset.

climb on it while wearing heavy armor (fighter/warrior) to prevent it from flying away. your pawn can do this too.

alternatively, hit its wings. once it's been damaged badly enough, it can't fly away.
griffons are easier to keep on the ground. just burn them with fire.

farm the dragon at volcanic island repeatidly if you need wyrmslife crystals because that one never flys away.

I think using an Archer's drenching shot when ice affinity is active will instantly freeze and ground a dragon.

Yeh Ice is good use frost hunter and mage has ice attack the dont get away

its still easier to kill the dragon at the volcanic island because it never flees. you just have to go back to a bench and sit there and wait a few days for it to respawn and then rinse and repeat.

The other dragons you have to pull out some insane damage and kill it on the first down because getting the 2nd down is much harder.

to kill it on the 1st down you need a heavy hitting move like arc of might and its a shame warfarer cant use it lol.

only warrior can use that ultimate skill unfortunitly even though warfarer can use all weapons.

Dragons seem to gain alot of resistence to being knocked down after you do it once.

I had a griffin do this to me at low level, it happened twice except the 2nd time I rid on it's back as it flew me somewhere else, then I managed to finish it the rest of the way off or until it's healthbar got to a certain point then it stopped recieving damage. But I haven't experienced anything like it since and i'm level 40. Perhaps you're taking too long to kill it or not dealing enough damage to ground them.

it's only some dragons/mobs.

when i was early game i fought a dragon for 20 minutes without it leaving.

From what I have heard, climbing on they when they try to leave will make them stay, but you need enough stamina to hang on.

For Griffins, just set their wings on fire. NO, setting their wings on fire once is not going to make them stay. But if you burn their wings as they try to leave, that will force them to fall out of the sky.

Hello

I just stop playing the game because of this.

Dragons are a bunch of puss*es in Dragon's Dogma 2.

Even to prevent them from flying away, this is the 5th time it's happened to me and I don't understand. I have no trouble fighting them, the only problem is that they just run away so I'm just wasting time with them. And for some reason, I can't follow them as they disappear when they are too far from me.

Is it scripted ? I'm not supposed to be able to kill them because I'm not far enough into the story or what's the logic here ?
