Gigantus Question

So I'm technically on the gigantus quest, but I wasn't really trying to do it yet and I just want to explore. I was going south to the cave that leads to the side path to volcano island and I got a cutscene where he came out of the water. Can I ignore this until I go to the location? I just want to go to volcano island at my own pace without actually spawning the boss.

If I don't go to the cliff or whatever where he attacks will it just be delayed forever until I do?

If you ignore it the quest will progress without you, best to go ahead and burn him down and get the exp/wakestones

short clarification, he will be defeated no matter what once he's triggered but it's in your best interest if you did it first as I stated above. This caught me super off guard as well during my first play through.

What do I do if he's defeated without me? My questline leads me to an empty space and can't even give the godsbane to Phaseus to progress

try visiting the mine where you were during the opening scene in the very start of the game.. remember the part where you have to carry a rock? That area.. when talos got defeated, thats where I wast directed at after.. it might trigger something..

also (Spoiler) if I remember it correctly, you will never give the godsbane to phaesus.. that's yours to keep even on new game+

you dont have to do anything. Gigantus is purely optional. i skipped it my first time around cause i couldnt be arsed dealing with BIG SLOW WALKING HIT WEAK SPOT BOSS. the game tricks you, but once you progress the quest to the Moonglint Tower, you can do whatever you want, explore etc. the last part wont progress without you actually going to the tower.

Damn I thought its going to be over and the game bugged out again since the questline isnt supposed to be triggered by time, yet it started when I was going through the grotto south of Batthal. When I hurried back there it was already over and quest wouldnt update at all
