If you want damage and knockback / stagger, Dwarven upgrades.
If you want raw damage, Battahli.
If you want a good spread and lighter load, Vernund.
If you happen to have the one dagger with element effect, Sacred Arbor for extra magicka oompf.
Elfs - Mag dmg
Bah - Physical damage
Dwarf - venm + a lot of knockback power
Use Heaven's Key (these are the best daggers). Dwarven provides balanced upgrade to both magic and physical damage, like Vermundian, but boosts knockdown power.
Vermundian does the exact same damage, but about half the knockdown power. Battahli has higher physical but lower magical damage, and overall lower total damage (and half knockdown).
Elven has high mag. but low phys, total about 10 extra damage but half the knockdown.
Dwarven is absolutely superior for most upgrades in the game. Only exclusions would be Staves, Archistaves and Magic Bows. Even swords on fighter are better served with Dwarven, as the damage lost from Battahli is very small, but knockdown bonus is very significant.
I agree with this post Dwarven tends to be the best overall simply because you don't gain knockdown power from leveling like str and mag. There really isn't really a wrong choice as it doesn't seem to matter that much later anyways, but just from what you gain I would say Dwarven.
As stats are plenty on endgame I would say Dwarf is the ultimate one. For both weapons and armor.
Basically if you want raw stats and is an elemental weapon or a spear, Vern, of is one type, Bahttal for pure phys and Elven for pure magic (MA bows and staves).
But again, the gain from knowdown is huge, so... endgame weapons I would consider just Dwarf.
For armor, as all are mixed, just vern and later dwarf.
These statements are somewhat incorrect.
Vermund style gives the same stat bonuses as Dwarven smithing, but without the knockdown power. The only benefit to Vermund style is slightly reduced weight, whereas Dwarven is heavier like Battahli. -- All irrelevant with Wyrmsfire enhancement.
Wyrmsfire does not multiply all stats. It only increases Strength and Magic (or Str Def. and Mag Def. for armours), and halves the weight. It does not improve Knockdown power at all, even on Dwarven enhanced weapons.
Vermund does NOT give 'more' stats than Elven or Battahl. It is entirely exclusive to the weapon / armour in question, and most of the balanced weapons between Str/Mag tend to get a slightly higher stat arrangement via Elven style (but this varies) but the damage boost is negligible compared to the utility of increased knockdown power which staggers more frequently and makes hitting weakspots far easier.
