Sphinx quest ruined my motivation to play(spoilers)
I didn't think one quest could burn me out this much. I searched for the first coin all day yesterday and half of today. I am just beyond burnt out. It has probably been a week in game. Really have no desire to play anymore, which sucks because I was really enjoying the game. Before this I never looked to any guides. Now here I am on map gene searching all the starting areas for potential first tokens. I am just exhausted and have zero desire to play now.

Naw dw, I have it from the bestest of Crapcom defenders that this is actually 200IQ brilliant perfect quest design because the quests are supposed to be bad because the game is about combat but also anyone that didn't think to write down/screenshot where they found every single item and time stamp it just wasn't prepping for the big brain mega-iq game that DD2 is and is a big dum-dum and also the quests are 200IQ brilliant and also not the point of the game so no one is allowed to not like them

So yeah DW this game is GOTY.

This.

I'm all for modding if it solves utter nonsense like this.

The Sphinx 'Riddles' are obnoxious.

DD1 was just an overall fun experience. Not sure what happened here. I suppose teleportation limits are the major thing ruining this game.
DD1 had those same limitations. Dark Arisen did add the eternal ferrystone, but that was essentially DLC. If you only ever played the PC version, you're used to being able to travel freely, but the original DD1 had the exact same fast travel as DD2 does. Minus the ox carts.

The map wasn't as big as far as I remember. I never played the PC version. I played 12 years ago on PS3. I also played Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning around the same time. They launched at the same time.

The game in general does everything in it power to make you not want to play the game. The Devs made most of the systems more complicated and harder than they needed to be and even in some cases are selling the solution in the store.

Ma che cazzo stai a dì!? Lamentarsi per il gusto di farlo, ormai va di moda:steamfacepalm:

The world wasn't as large, but it didn't have the ox carts and also had steeper penalties for carrying too much weight, so you couldn't sprint as much as you can in DD2. DD1's world was also emptier than in DD2, which is a sort of divisive thing in and of itself. Some people find the traveling to be less boring in DD2 because there's a lot of action on the way, while others feel like this turns traveling into even more of a hassle.

Personally, I wasn't bothered by the lack of fast travel until I was maybe 45 hours into the game. By that time I kinda had enough ferrystones to play a bit loose with them though. But it's a preference thing -- disliking the restricted fast travel is a valid opinion to hold. I don't really think it's very different from DD1 though.

You have few options
1- use mod what show you your first token
2- use cheat mod to add a that token for Sphinx
3- like me go on NG+ and first token what you pick up is the one and use a mark on map.

As someone else mentioned already, you don't need to complete the riddle to get the next one. Plus, if I remember right, you can just kind of ask about the other riddles without having to finish them in any real order.

That said, I admit that I'm a little surprised by the general population's reaction to this quest. I thought it was really cool. I did remember which Seeker's Token was my first, mostly because my pawn marked something on the minimap and I was confused for like a solid 5 minutes because I thought they were marking something related to the quest I was currently pursuing and I was confused when I finally platformed up to the thing and found a little coin.

It is entirely possible I am only remembering as a good game. it has been so long. I should really play it again on PC sometime.

I just remember loving Demon's Souls and Dark Souls a lot back then. Finding a lot of RPGs to not scratch the same itch till Dragon's Dogma came out. It still scratches that itch. I will push on with DD2. I think in 2012 I had nothing better to play. I Played the other games I mentioned multiple play throughs doing everything.

There is many games I put down after a while and do not complete, but these ones I usually push through. I guess if I just looked up the punishment for not finding my first token wasn't a big deal, I wouldn't have been stressed about it. Oh well, it is my fate to fail this :D A reflection of how I play games and remember stuff. Whatever I need tot ell myself :P

I have some spare Finders tokens, I can gift it through your pawn. What's your pawn ID?

Lucky that left an imprint on your mind. Part of me is still curious where my first coin was. I suppose I will never know. :D

I just gifted your pawn a Finders token, let me know if you got it or not.
I simply went back to the starting areas and looked around. Found it in a place I didnt think was my first.

I got it. Thank you very much. I can't believe the ground I scoured to never find this. Like, I been up and down and all over the place. Who knows when I really found my first token. Maybe it was way later. Either way, I very much appreciate this!
