The map is so small?
Its only 2 major towns and thats it?
At the beginning it looked so big but in the end most of the areas are not reachable and its linear half circle that you journy from one big city, to checkpoint, to the next big city and then the mines. Thats it?

Ive been all over the map personally, trying to see every little area the game has to offer. While it is a decent sized map, im used to "spoiled" by MMO sized games which I shouldnt look at the map like that, but its hard not to. No negative, just a want for more because its so good lol.

meh, i gotta be honest its not as "big" as you would think, you are confined to the roads pretty much. You cant wander too far off them. So you basically just wander around the roads with about 80ft easements on each side.

Exactly! and I do like that there are always caves to explore, but the roads are so linear.

I do own it on PS5

On the smaller side, but dense. Nearly everywhere you can think to look there's something to find.

This style of compact, semi-open but pathway focused, world design feels similar to Gothic to me. Personally I prefer it to more modern open world design which tends to have a lot of empty space in an effort to look bigger than it really is.

(tldr)
The map is much bigger than that of the first game.#
That said, you're right: it seems, there are only two major cities. But there is much more to explore than that. From what I read, there are 50 dungeons on the map. (the first game, just has actually 3. without side-caves and "open-world-dungeons". and excluding shadow fortress.)
BBI is another tipic, however.

I play the game on PS5 (because, you know, PC port sucks even more performance-wise) and I can tell you the map is indeed way smaller than I expected, but that's not the biggest issue here. Capcom advertised DD2 as an "open world game", but in reality the whole explorable area is just a really long, quite narrow corridor. In fact, there's no real exploration like in other games of this type - the map won't let you leave said corridor at any time.

Capcom done the elves dirty. Only race that speaks unique language, but tis just a small village.

Not suprised. They are probably just a Village. Which focuses on being 1 with earth aka hippies. They dont care about expanding their culture.
Was kinda similiar in the lord if the rings. They were just a Village with powerful warriors.
I took me near two hours to go from the checkpoint to the desert village through the detour... idk how that is small

DD's maps are very small compared to pretty much any modern open world game. However, they are also packed with detail and the terrain usually keeps you from taking a straight path, so they feel a lot bigger while playing. Plus there are no mounts and monsters are constantly slowing you down.

HEY OP
What kind of standard have you !
Did you even really explore, like go to a gryphin nest, explore hidden cave, find the elves town ?

Really, why? Care to elaborate why it sounds to you like that?
I am opening it after realizing that the mines is the last area you can discover.
So how many hours do you think I have on this game?

Same here bro, yesterday I reached the mines area and I realized that was all... There's huge black areas in the map that aren't accesible, plus all the ocean... the map is huge but 70% of the map is inaccessible.... and the exploring is so lineal... I mean it is a decent world, it feels full and rich and chaotic, what it is in the game it is well designed, executed and enjoyable... but... the wild marketing about "an open world x4 times bigger than the first one" come on... I expected more from an "open world" in 2024

World is as shallow as it gets, can't think of another "open world" game with less to do in it than DD2
