Enemies keep running away
Is anyone else having problems with anything with wings just leaving the fight about 70% of the time? It happens to me almost every time I fight a drake, and is basically guaranteed when fighting a gryphon. Sometimes it's after 1 health bar, and others it's when they have only 1 left.

It feels real crappy how often I find something cool to fight, and part way through it leaves with no way for me to tell where it went.

Honestly just stand on top of them periodically throughout the fight. If a dragon takes to the sky immediately start climbing its tail. I'm sure they CAN fly off in this case but I have never seen them do so. Just watch it because they're jerks and like to cast levin right after.

if you damage each of the drake's wings until they have holes in them, the drake will stop flying away. It won't be 100% grounded, but it won't leave the fight [debunked, alas; apparently they can bail even then]

You basically need to destroy their wings, or they might attempt to escape when they're close to death.

They aren't affected by weight, i think it's just random, i was on top stabbing and the thing took off, it finally shook me off like 3 camp sites away from where i started the fight.
During the fight/flight the whole time i was thinking "even if i win this i think i'm still gonna die"

I've only had a drake/lesser dragon flee when they were "raiding" somewhere. If you fight them at their home/spawn point they should stay and fight to the death. There's a drake south-east-ish from the Battahl oracle, for example.
With griffons though, that ♥♥♥♥'s annoying. If you get them burning they cannot fly away, so maybe give that a shot. They also have a nest they'll fight to the death in, but those are more tedious to get to IMHO.
The damage you do carries over though (at least to a degree). Early on I fought a random griffon and got him down to one bar before he fled. Later while walking to some objective, it swooped down to attack. It only had one bar left from the earlier fight, so I could finish it.

Bah! My bad, I'd been led to believe that worked. The one time I tested it the drake was probably at its home spawn

eventually you just get to the point where you can easily knock them down and kill them really fast. just expect those 2 to fly away unless you can do sufficient damage to them quickly.

It has nothing to do with weight, it has to do with them not saying " eh I'm losing bye "

I've tested this extensively at this point and as far as I've been able to tell ( Over 24 drake kills ) they will not fly away if you or a pawn is actively climbing on them. However, don't get complacent, hit the head like a madman if you're up there. Don't just stand on it waiting for the inevitable levin or bolide cast.
