Turn RayTracing on... trust me
If you're on a rig with a 30/40 series GPU and comfortably in the 60 - 70 FPS range in cities and 85 - 110+ FPS range in the world and haven't tried turning RT on because most of us are smart enough to know it engulfs FPS, think again.

With it on, it probably costs 6-10 FPS. For RT? That's absolutely nothing. In most games when you flip that RT switch on, they're taking away 40-60 FPS from you. Not here, and let me tell you... it looks godly. Check it out.

Then go download these two RT quality increase mods, which have nearly zero impact performance:

Quality RT: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/180
Quality Water: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/181

Edit: These mods also remove RT ghosting.

This is indeed one of the few games I've played where it feels like ray tracing has a substantial impact on image quality, and that the visuals were expressly designed with this tech in mind. The game looks noticeably worse without it, IMO.

Can't play without it here. Other games it just looks tacked on like some kind of tech demo.

I don't understand why but my RayTracing doesn't sometime "activate" when indoors, sometimes going back to main menu and reloading fixes it but it's a coint toss, example:

RT on after reloading https://i.imgur.com/pU4VQHK.jpeg

Does anyone know why this is happening?

yeah I have ray tracing on and don't really notice a performance difference. My performance in towns is trash but outside of towns in battles ray tracing is really nice to have because I sit comfortably around 60fps.

Turning RT on and traveling/fighting at night increased visuals tenfold. Just looks nuts.

Never seen this in my life. Looks disastrous off.

Definitely looks weird, like both the RT and the non-RT lighting aren't loading. The first thing that comes to mind is deleting your shader cache file and letting the game rebuild it the next time you launch.

I thought the second image was from DDDA lmao

I have it on, FPS looks good, but I see ghosting sometimes on edges or my character if I'm near the water or edges, it's weird sometimes.

Does these mods makes it better? Remove the ghosting?

Also, use DLSS with it or the DLSS will make it blurry? (FG on or off?)

Yes, the default RT value from Capcom was set at 0.4 for some reason. These mods bring it up to 1.0, full RT, which almost completely removes the ghosting while somehow only impacting performance by a few FPS.

I'd recommend leaving DLSS on, at least on Quality, still looks great and keeps your FPS value healthy.

That's the thing though, it's not off.

Raytracing does make a huge difference.

But i'll wait for a performance patch before I turn it on for good.

FPS in cities/anywhere near NPCs is just such a buzzkill.

Wonderful, thanks, sad we have to use mods for those fixes

Sorry but another question, do you disable Vignette? I see there's a lot of different, so far I haven't installed any mods but it seems it became more a necessity than just playing around hehehe

Ray Tracing looked so much better I left it on from the start. Don't even care how much FPS it is.

I do play with Vignette off, there's another mod that can do this: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/8

This is more of a framework tool for the entire game, but specifically has a dropdown that turns actual Vignette off instead of playing around with ReShade trying to make it disappear.
