The best part of Trickster is the token radar augment.
But some of the augments are nice for other builds. And I can see grabbing the buff for a wayfarer build.
But over all not all that fun IMHO as a main vocation to run around it for long.
Now if you use the Trickster class as a minion class, or commander class, it is really really strong. Heck I've even seen some videos of just the pawns along with the tricksters buffs killing a Drake like its nothing.
So when it properly used and with decent pawns its a beast of a class from what I can tell.
This class would be ok if pawns had more brains. It is aneurysm inducing to watch the pawns fight on their own.
The tanking or rather tricking enemies with the specter is exceptional though. Too bad it is a lot better to just actually fight yourself.
Edit: I tried running a mixed party, Sorc Ranger Mage party and 2x ranger mage and it is all horrid.
Anyway, I heard Warfarer gives EXP to other unlocked Vocations so I'm just gonna level Trickster through that instead.
Its kill speed is generally slow, though again its entirely dependent on pawns, so if you have good pawns you can have great clear time. Pawns can do incredible damage just like the Arisen with the right gear and skills.
Virtually every Trickster skill is worthless. The starting skill where you spin and taunt at insane range is never gonna leave your bar. The magic wall and the skill that throws your decoy into enemies are pretty much it. The phantom floor rarely is useful and anything beyond that is totally useless including the joke dragon.
The most important stat is Strength because it boosts decoy health, you spend all your time taunting with this class anyhow the magic stat to boost taunt doesnt matter.
One thing the class excels at though is monitoring pawn AI. Because every encounter is trivialized in that enemies cant do anything but chase the carrot you can just watch how pawns use their skills, and with what frequency and how reliably they use certain skills. You can gauge pawn AI very well too with the different personalities. You can attempt this with other classes by simply standing back but pawns will often want to fall back to you if you keep yourself away from the fight, thus messing up their own combat.
I certainly wouldnt recommend the class. I also would not say its bad, its just kind of weird. obviously playing a Mage could run a full support build and then do the same thing with pawns but enemies will actually fight back. The trickster is probably the most overpowered tank class ever in a game. You can do stuff like place your decoy in a room that an enemy is too big to enter, and then just taunt them, literally standing right next to them or jumping up and down on their tail or something, and watch them stand at the door of the room unable to do anything because they cant path to the target. But because its so troll I dont think people who enjoy the in your face style of tanking gameplay will like the class.
In the past 40 minutes trying it out I got separated from my pawns and ran into some slimes. They kept "wasting" themselves attacking my decoy till they shriveled away. First time I've seen them die like that.
Such a crazy game.
