Reset an Equipments Enhancement?
Didn't realize there were different bonuses to upgrading equipment based on which location you "Enchanced" the item.

Is there a way to roll back and item to default state?

I could see the reason being all your gear in the first cycle is rather cheap so you might as well just buy a new item.

I heard later on the Dragonforged person can clear enhancements, possibly new game+ but for me I am not far enough along to test it.

I am that far, and yes, in exchange for WyrmsLife crystals, you can reset a weapons enhancement. It becomes an option around the time you can also get the Dragonforged enhancement, which requires you to have filled the three normally visible slots on a piece of gear.

So...I'm at endgame talking to Dragonforged and I don't see an option to reset weapon or armor smithing enhancments. Am I missing something?

I believe it was ng+ related for resetting enhancements. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Is it an item?
Is it a service performed by the dragonforged?
Service performed by blacksmiths?

A bit more specific would be nice. Metal stated it's in exchange for the Wyrmslife Crystals which to my knowledge is only traded in at the Dragonforged.

If only in NG+ why I wonder? We can max enhance and dragonforge in the first playthrough.

Update... I'm in NG+ now, I'll come back to this thread and update with my findings after I reach Dragonforged.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Metal was correct but from the way it was worded it sounded like you could reset enhancements on any playthrough. I have arrived at Dragonforged in NG+ and as Lifter stated, you CAN reset you enhancments.

It costs 1 WLC (thank you capcom for not making it something ridiculous, you didn't do a very good job explaining differences in BS styles and the player wouldn't realized until they came across Battahl'y for comparison to Vern, appreciate you didn't gouge the player here)
AND it will completely reset a weapon/armor from any enhancement level back to NONE.
