The travel, questing, inventory management, performance, and Sphinx are excruciating.
"These days"? Games were even harder "back then".
I guess not everyone likes to go into the ring and beat a 6-years-old dude again and again just to feel "powerful", my dude.
Game is easy as ♥♥♥♥ man. With all the tedious traveling I was eating Drake's lunch while hiding behind a rock and making my own, actual lunch in real life. Didn't feel powerful to me, felt boring and tedious. So yeah I'm with you on that part.
I mean, they aren't wrong though. One of the main complaints about this game is that it is "Easy" which the first game was the exact same in terms of difficulty. You start off weak, you scale quickly in your chosen profession, you proceed to wipe the floor with whatever crosses your path.
The difference is, the first game had builds specifically designed to your chosen vocations. Wanna build a sorc? Build a mage into a sorc. In DD2, it is play what you like, swap how you like and I personally like that system more.
I love that I've maxed thief/fighter and almost warrior and it allows me to just have tons of fun. I proceed to baseball bat swing mobs away from me with charged heavy hits, or run them through with a sword before tossing them off into the distance. It's just fun, not neccessarily hard, but I can MAKE it harder by simply using inferior equipment. All up to you really.
In the future they will likely change the way adaptive difficulty works and add scaling to the mix, but as of right now, it's just more encounters tmk.
There are even illnesses that can affect humans if they for example feel unchallenged in their jobs. So this is nothing new. Lets not start acting like this is sth new. Guess my biggest problem is that I'm a human being. No hate...
This game will be no different.
(and then different people, depending on the games they play/etc, have different skill levels. Just because the game is trivial to you, and you therefore say "Everyone wants games super easy so they feel power fantasy!", doesn't mean everyone else is finding the game as easy as you are.)
I've done Archer, Fighter, and I'm halfway through leveling Mage (which feels really slow & awful so far. Gotta get those augments unlocked so I can get away from this vocation. Also using it for levitation at the moment.) Fighter felt weaker than Archer, which wasn't particularly powerful. /shrug
Well walking out of battahl was red wolves/high level bandits, a griffin and a golem. Knackers were right down the road and then a series of undead knights. So they happen more often than ya think.
