Should I stay archer until [spoiler class] for better stats?
Am level 26 archer. For more ideal stat gains before I unlock magic archer, should I switch over to mage for awhile?

You'd still have the same stats once you pick it, I don't think stats port over from one vocation to another, it was "streamlined", all that ports over are the augments.

I haven't seen this confirmed, but it feels like stat growth will soft-cap on certain stats if you stay the same class for many level-ups. It's also benificial to swap vocations to get more augments. I would swap to mage for a while if just for the Magick Defense stat increases. I started my pawn with that, and then fighter, and her defenses are pretty solid and balanced now.

if you can stomach playing mage to max rank you get a faster stam regen augment at max rank. I think it's worth it but I can understand if people don't want to do it.
I wouldn't worry about stat gains in this game, no matter what the stats will normalize eventually and they do convert mostly when you change vocations.

also the stats aren't consistent as far as i could tell, i was getting +str for magic archer at later levels with no +magic.

apparently, the M.A bow is mostly affected by your magick. Yes. It would be more beneficial for you to switch to either a mage or sorcerer. I will recommend you get the stamina augment from the archer. It's great on all vocations.

is that just your hunch or have you confirmed that's what happens because in the first one there was a huge difference between someone who leveled purely as one thing / only levelled as a certain subclass, and actually played making sure to never level as a different one to minmax damage...

Thanks everyone. I was eyeballing augments anyways, so switching to mage sounds good.

I don't know if the stats have been made less important or not. Until more testing occurs, it is ideal to assume they matter, even if only a little.

While switching between vocations while leveling up, I barely noticed a difference. Long as you've got decent enough gear I think you should be good.

Changing your vocation changes your stats. You can easily see this when you change between a high health vocation like warrior to something like mage. Your hp swings MASSIVELY when you do this.

In DD1 your hp and other stats don't change when you change vocations.
