The Quests are bad
I'm seeing a pattern of quests being unclear, NPCs saying to follow them then disappearing.

What is this crap?

quests are unclear because thats the way the game is intended, if an NPC tells you to go find X, there wont be anything on the map telling you where X is, because your job is to find it. Sometimes they have vague clues like... follow the western road, but thats all.

NPC's also have a 'life' they move and are only in their locations at specific times of day, just like the main quest you'll need to come at night to talk to the NPC, other NPC's may be in the morning or afternoon or maybe even in a different town.

As for NPC's vanishing while you are following them... no idea, possibly a bug, haven't run into it myself. It may also be part of the quest, if you can say what quest it is that may help.

Npc's do periodically spawn and de-spawn when you are running around towns like vern, happens to me occasionally, unsure what is going on but game runs fine, did note that the npc's that are de-spawning though are just standard npc's not quest givers.

If you get stuck on a quest, there's two options to help you. One is you can go talk to the Oracle in town and she'll give you a hint for 50g.

Or (better option) Go to the riftstone and hire a pawn that has knowledge of the quest you currently have selected as a priority. Then using the 'Go' command will have them lead you where you need to go.

I’m just looking up answers online.

Basically in an effort to not waste time I had to go through my NPC log book, google the NPC’s name to figure out wtf was going on. Never had to do this for the first game.

I can take running around the field at a slow pace and whatnot but these quests are really aggravating.

They are mid, but the one that wants you to find the first seeker token quest, that is possibly the worst quest i've ever seen in my entire life, what an absolute idiotizm that is.

Its like real life. Someone asks you to do something and they may have a hint, but you agreed to do it so you have to figure it out.

I'm not sure what your life is like but rarely does someone give me vague instructions dab a yellow blob on a map and tell me to get on with it, most of the time people are pretty clear when they ask me to do something.

I have yet to summon someone out of the ether because they have done a task in an alternate reality IRL either.

They're not bad, they're just purposely inconvenient. They didn't want to spell everything out for you, but make you think about what to do.

Still, the majority of the quests will still put a big marker on your map you can follow, but some will definitely expect you to pay attention and make decisions.

Look for clues, time and places, NPC aren't the same in day and night, even the same ones have different dialogues depending on time.

If you are still stuck, recruit a pawn who know about the quest.

Every second you spend in a video game is a waste of time. Might as well just relax, take your time, and try to enjoy it. Some things shouldn't be rushed :)

I had a quest where I was supposed to bring a kid to a shop keeper named Morris in the Checkpoint Town, but when I was waiting for the him to get near Morris, the kid despawned before my very eyes. I am unable to find the boy anywhere, leaving the quest permanently open and unable to be completed.

What? That's how your real life operates? Because that's specifically NOT how real life operates. I don't say to my employee "We need to fix roofs."

I give them the exact location, time, t task, cost, materials and order of completion.

Your doctor doesn't say "To need an MRI buddy. Can't give you any more information than that I'm afraid."

He gives you the number of the office, the location, an appointment and a referral.

I honestly cannot think of even one real life example of vague instructions in the real world. Honestly not even one.

What real world corrolary do you have in mind here?

It’s actually amazing how bad the quests are. Unbelievable
Mehermagerk Mar 31, 2024 @ 10:47pm
I mean the quests are terrible in the original DDA outside of the post game and DLC it's worse in DD2 since post game is trash and there is no DLC.
