I don't mind a coverup like that if it's worked into the world well; like how I'd prefer mountains or cliffs to form boundaries of a map instead of invisible walls.
Also crafts "lore" that makes it impossible to take one step in.
Devs brag about the large size of the map.
What a joke.
Or maybe in DLC? If the story takes place after the ending?
I'd love to see this game takes the game to underwater as well. The idea of fighting giant monsters underwater while managing stamina due to being out of breath sounds intense and fun.
Bro, if you wanna explore the water so bad, Dave the Diver is your game.
Elden Ring, DS, and DD2 are NO SWIMMERS ALLOWED.
lol
That is not really a reason why it had to be
Subnautica is the best underwater game ever.
I do, just because I can't swim for 10 seconds, I now have to make a 10-15 minute detour.
Worked fine in DD1, because DD1 had few bodies of water. DD2 has a ton. Lore wise could have just kept it in the ocean, or still bodies of water. Having it in rivers seems a bit of an odd choice.
That is my opinion too especially since brine is reserved usually for the sea, not fresh water
soma/Bioshock would disagree with you.

Games are different, goals are different, ideas are different. And, different is okay.
Mario Brothers (original) had me restart the world if I died too many times, was this to 'artificially extend the game' - or - was it just a design choice?
