Is it better than Elden Ring or not?

ER focus is on gameplay and consistent experience.
DD2 focus is on immersion and unique experiences.
I'm having more fun with DD2.
ER is the result of Fromsoft's bad management / priority management. Wide as an ocean and deep as a puddle, as they failed again to implement basic mechanics that were already lackluster in previous games. Status effects apply through rolls, combat is pretty basic and spammy, half arsed crafting system, half arsed invation system. None of it is well thought out, none of it is implemented to completion or feels finished.

I've been a long term fan, but their continous lack of actualy improvement to the core systems is baffling, which is not helped by this religious fanboys pretendeing it's all fine. That doesn't net improvement.

Also you cannot compare ER to DD, despite it's flaws, DD feels more finished, more of a consistent world that feels allive. Not mostly empty with a few camps and nothing in between. Traveling in DD2 never felt boring.

Why is it that Dragons Dogma 2 has 140k players @ Release while Elden Ring hat nearly 1 million?

Starfield also had more players, and it's a total ♥♥♥♥ game. Baldur's Gate 3 had more players and good reviews and it does nothing but sell sex to the acronym gang.

Dragon's Dogma has worse reviews in large part because of the legions of fanatical Denuvo and microtransaction inquisitors. BoobTube influencers are actually commanding their followers to review bomb it.

You can't insist that popularity or good reviews indicate anything objective. They might, and they tend to, but there are always other factors at work. McDonalds has more diners than every 3 star restaurant in America combined. Is their food actually better?

I don't play soulslike or MMO, so I can't comment on Elden Ring other than to say there's very little chance I would have considered it a good game, personally.

It is not Elden RIng. It is not as hard as Elden RIngs. It is not as vast as Elden RIngs.

The combat I actually enjoy more in DD2 HOWEVER the story is very short for the main story. Far less than Elden rings. It won't have the DLC additions in length of Elden Rings. It also will not be so hard at the start that you want to scream at first. IT will have challenge but not excessive difficulty as it will scale. It won't have all the quests like in extended content.

There will be grinding of levels, there will be getting items needed to upgrade. Need to get CR to raise all your vocations. There will be areas hidden for harder enemies and awards. But it is very different.

It won't have the variety of enemies of Elden rings. But the ones it does are very well done.
