Best cloak generally?

Gotta say always somewhat disappointed when I get a costly one as it doesn’t really feel any different from a much earlier grabbed one… what am I missing?

As far as I've been able to tell, the differences between cloaks are incredibly minor. Like your average Dark Souls 3 armor choice, it mostly comes down to whichever cloak you think looks the best.

The slash and strike resistances are listed as a % on your status screen, and knockdown resistance i'm sure does.... something. If one has an ailment resistance that stacks with your favorite armor or something that would be a nice secondary consideration.

Since it isn't super clear what defense or magick defense do in a specific way, a % resistance to blunt or slash damage seems the most impactful. There are a couple cloaks that have 1% in both, and one (admirals, I think?) which has 2% vs slashing.

shame as i dont see the point in buying such expensive ones

Go for aesthetic, I use one that doesn't clip through my armor (magick archer).
